I specifically asked for runny yolks when we both ordered the salmon and poached eggs. As soon as mine arrived and one of the yolks was hard I drew this to the 'chef's' attention and despite the glowering look I received, I thought he was preparing me another egg, so only ate half of my meal. After a considerable amount of time and more withering looks from the 'chef' I asked if another egg was coming and literally got no response. After waiting further, my partner asked how it was progressing and I was then told the egg had broken as he took it out and the yolk leaked out. He said he was preparing more eggs but after another long wait we gave up and asked for the bill. We were initially being charged the full price but on asking, they agreed to refund the cost of my half-meal. Such a shame, as what I did have was very nice, the coffee was good and the young lady who served us was very courteous...
Read moreNice local cafe, with a bit of a jungle vibe (you'll know what I mean if you've been there!). Staff were polite and efficient, although we'd picked a time when the kitchen was closed, so couldn't sample the ultimate cheese on toast. Settling for a sausage roll and a flat white, we weren't disappointed. The food was rustic, high quality and tasty. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had, with a deep and rich flavour. The venue is quite dark, unfortunately, and does look like it needs some love - but this is entirely subjective. The toilet was clean and bright, and the atmosphere was nice and laid back in general (the cafe I mean, not specifically the toilet, because that would be a bit weird). I'd definitely go there again for the coffee alone if I'm ever in Haywards Heath, which is extremely unlikely,...
Read morePopped into Haywards Heath to find a cafe as we were in the area, stumbled upon Flinders and glad we did.
It’s a lovely space, with the tables well spaced out too - so you’re not on top of each other - and the ambience is relaxed and chatty but not loud. Service was attentive - friendly welcome, allowed to settle and then came to your table.
We ordered breakfast sandwiches which are two slices of sourdough bread generously filled with 2 sausages, bacon and a cheese omelette. All the ingredients were tasty and good quality and they more than filled a hole! Our accompanying coffee was great too.
All in all a great place to meet and eat and would definitely visit again if we’re up this way....
