Winner city — Restaurant in Newark and Sherwood

We tried winner city for the 1st time this evening after a few recommendations from friends. We were told not to let the outside put us off so we gave it the benefit of the doubt. We ordered of the eat all you can menu at £16.99 a head. The food came out quick but it wasn't brilliant. The salt and pepper ribs were good but the rest of the starters were not so we moved onto the mains. Again not Brillant. I was expecting battered chicken balls when I ordered the sweet and sour chicken but instead a cut battered chicken fillet came out. Never seen that before ! The waiting staff were brilliant, especially the 2 young girls. All in all I wouldn't recommend and having been spoilt by spring water at Calverton I probably expected to much. Will stick to what I know... Especially as of the 1st July winner city is putting up a price increase. Will definitely not be...

Visited this place for the first time. I'm not sure if we will be coming back.

Martini served in water glass.. one dish was completely different from what we've ordered (but it was cheaper and we were already disappointed so decided to leave it that way). Also ordered duck in plum sauce, but they were pineapple pieces on the plate instead, not even one plum at all. Wonder if that wasn't the wrong dish, too..

Apart from that, everyone rushed, and we were never asked if we were okay and our food was okay. The waiter just dropped our plate and disappeared.

In addition, people who were sitting next to us looked upset also, which means we were not the only ones, and this seems to be something...

First time here and now I regret not going sooner...

The food here is THE BEST CHINESE FOOD I EVER HAD. My food came out super fresh sizzling hot on a hot slate and everything was cooked perfectly... Tender, soft, succulent, it was a top quality meal and experience.

The decor is a bit dated but everything is spotless clean. I love the traditional look, feel and vibe here... I think we have lost touch with good old fashioned quality and its been replaced with modern LEDs and boring plain designs...

I genuinely felt like I was taken back in time and I loved every second of it...

The beer is lovely too.

The staff are also very friendly and very professional..
