The Village Inn

We always go to the village in every year for the last 8 years or more when we go to devon on holiday.And have always had a great welcome with great staff and great food. But we went there thursday and was met by a very ignorant barman . My husband was so disgusted that he said loudly I'm not staying here. He was standing at the bar for about 5 mins and ignored by bar man. Some other man walked straight up to.the bar and was served with a drink immediately. There was 5 of us there plus our severely disabled friend in a motorised wheelchair that is operated by his mother as he isnt able to do anything for himself. The barman said to us you will be waiting for about a hour for food and it wasnt even busy at the time. There was only us 5 plus barman in the room. We waited about 15 mins stood up to order a drink and we were totally ignored. By that time I was fed up of being ignored and said to our other friends I'm not staying here to be ignored we will eat elsewhere. I seriously think the barman had a problem with our friend in a wheelchair as when I phoned prior to going in there he told me there was space for us to have food but it might get busy later. We will never ever go there again. We went to.the mariner for food and were treated wonderfully. Our disabled friend was also made to feel welcome and the staff there were fantastic. It's a big thumbs down from us for the village in. If the man who was always serving us in the many years before we know things would of been different. The barman there now needs to have lessons in how to treat people who are using the place as he clearly has no people skills whatsoever.
