Visited today (Sunday 8th) having booked a table. We normally love TGI and have enjoyed our visits in the past. We arrived 10 minutes before our booking and were greeted by a hostess who showed us to our table (after checking that it had been cleaned) and informed us that a few items had run out, including all but one of the draught beers. When we were seated, I discovered food remnants in one of the seats, presumably from the previous occupants. I brushed this off and assumed that this was just an oversight. However, upon sitting down we noticed an obvious ring mark and some sticky remnants of sauce on the table top which indicated that the table had not been cleaned between parties. We did not mention this at the time as we were hungry and had experienced previously excellent service on prior visits so were prepared to forgive a couple of errors. When we were seated, we were handed a piece of card that contained a QR code. This was explained to us as being required to access the menu and order food and drink by scanning the code on a phone. After several unsuccessful attempts to order through this method, I flagged down a member of staff, who happened to be our server. He explained that the QR code was for viewing the menu only and that ordering was done through the staff. This was not made clear upon our arrival and the app itself gives the impression that items can be ordered virtually as menu items can be clicked upon whilst scrolling. The member of staff that clarified this did so in a very patronising way, more or less implying that we were idiots for not understanding the process. With things now clearer we ordered drinks. These took a few minutes to arrive and, after a few minutes we ordered food. This took quite a while to arrive. From being seated to our food arriving, a time of approximately 45 minutes had elapsed. I appreciate that it was a Sunday but the restaurant was not full and other tables that were seated after us received starters before our meals arrived. Our food was fine but the overall experience up to this point left much to be desired. We had actually ordered and received a 2nd round of drinks before our food even arrived. Our server was very hard to pin down and, in all honesty, only moved with any speed when we had received our bill and were preparing to pay. I hate to complain as I am more than aware of how tough hospitality is but this also emphasises the need for good service. All in all, we were very disappointed with our visit to a place that has only ever displayed good service in the past. I realise that we could have said something at the time but we were so hungry that we decided to stick it out until we had time to process what had happened and didn't fancy the thought of going somewhere else to...

Read moreWe dined here on 3/2/2024. For the prices they are charging - you expect the quality of the food and service to match. Unfortunately far from the truth.
After being seated, we waited 15 minutes for service. The restaurant was not busy. In the end we had to wave down a member of staff for service and even then we waited a further 5 minutes before our drinks order was taken.
Ordered Mozz Dippers, Chicken Taco Salad, JD Chicken Strips & Onion Rings.
Unlimited Drinks Re-fills. But only when the staff seemingly decide to do so.
All the food arrived Luke-Warm at best. The only Hot dish that was serviced we're the onion rings. The Mozz Dippers arrived with an ice-cold pot of marinara. We queried why the sauce was ice-cold and that normally with this dish - the Marinara sauce is served hot (Only having it 3 weeks earlier at another TGI).
the JD Chicken was Luke-Warm, Not hot. The chips were borderline cold - on top of the pathetic portion. Don't get me wrong, the chicken portion is plentiful but the portion of chips is woeful considering this is a £21 Dish.
My wife then noticed there was no chicken present in her Chicken Taco Salad. We queried this along side the sauce and they went to the kitchen to rectify. My wife began to dig into the dish just to be sure the chicken was not buried under the toppings (It was not). It was then discovered the sauce was also hiding the absolute shambles of a salad. Brown and wilted lettuce, soft and slimy tomatoes to say the least.
5 minutes later they arrived back with what i can only describe as Half a chicken breast, cut up into 4-5 strips - An absolute joke considering this was a £20 salad with an upcharge for the chicken.
My wife declined to accept the dish and they took it with not a peep of an apology.
This unfortunately ruined the entire experience. With my wife refusing to eat anything from here going forward, it was difficult to finish my dish knowing that my wife was upset - was unable to finish the dish.
Whilst they did refund us for the Salad & the Mozz Dippers. There was no further compensation.
Will not be dining here again, nor any other TGI for...
