What a Terrible Customer Experience What a disapointing experience - So, I was on my way back from a long round trip with a friend, who had just came along for the journey and we stopped off after 4 hours into our trip at about 8:20pm on 'All Hallows Eve' and it was a torrid evening weather wise, we decided to stop at Pizza Hut Port Solent and were 'greeted' (If you can call it that) by a member of staff who made us feel as if we were intruding, rather than being welcomed. It was as if he just wanted to go home and as if we inerupted him in his quest of cleaning tables for his impending departure. Not a friendly smile or greeting and simply said I'll get the menus, picked 2 up and off he went! We followed him to a table and we were told to, when we have chosen from the menu, order from the QR code on the table and off he went again. My friend and I commented on how unwelcoming we thought he was to each other, as he walked away!
Hey Ho - we chose our food and ordered and our drinks they came first followed by our sharing pizza. I had ordered a Pepsi out of the bottle and requested Ice from the menu and my friend ordered a Latte. When the drinks arrived, the Coffee was Cold and we told our server and it was replaced with a hot drink (as it should have been in the first place). The bottle of Pepsi arrived and was put on the table and he was going to walk away when I asked for a straw as I was only offered a 'Cup' ! I said, 'in that case, may I have a straw instead of a cup'. (No mention of any ice)!!
The food arrived which was the whole very good, although the Chicken Supreme wasn't exactly stacked with Chicken. Fries were fresh and hot and as expected. There was no Check Back to see if our food was OK.
We ate our food and as the only other couple in the restaurant, before we got up to leave, we asked if we could have a takeaway box, this was plonked on our table and after we had placed our pizza in the box and we got up to leave, we were now the only customers in the restaurant. We were passed by the person that showed us to the table and what I can only assume was the manager/owner as this person had earlier barked out at our table server, to take a takeaway order for someone who had arrived earlier and we were totally ignored by all the Staff as we vacated. We even looked over and said goodbye to where they were standing as we were leaving, with the view to thank them also, but we were totally ignored. I remarked on my exit to my friend that I felt that after spending nearly £50 (£46.67 to be exact), the whole experience was very underwhelming and I would be writing this review as I felt that the staff needed some, what I would call, a refresher in the Basics of Customer Service.
I understand that Pizza Hut is not a high end restaurant, but one should expect at least a friendly greeting from staff, a check back to see if all is OK and a friendly goodbye and a thanks for being there! In this place, we got...
Read moreI visited here and came out traumatised and devastated. As I entered the venue I said we are just waiting for the premier inn check to open and we need a small snack to share as we're eating a big meal shortly. We tried to order a Goat cheese and veg flat bread pizza and side of chips. The app menu is hard to navigate with it trying to 'upgrade'. I ended up adding and deleting lots of things. I paid for the buffet and chips by accident (same price as flatbread). Once the waitress realised we were waiting on a goat flatbread that hasn't been ordered. She asked if we wanted to cancel and re order, or just have pizza from the buffet. Disappointed but thought it was the easier option, I said we'd just get the same amount of pizza from the buffet as we would if we were one person, We got 4 narrow slices of dried out standard pizza and some pointless garlic crust bits, and because it came with the 'salad bar' we got some iceberg lettuce and a few bits, but again, super conscious that it was a 1 person order. The random buffet pizza wasnt we wanted at all, but I hate causing a fuss. Conscious of not wanting to look like we were taking more than a person's worth, no one went up for more. It was not pleasant and not the nice goat cheese & veg flatbread pizza that we wanted to share. But hey ho. We left £5 extra tip on the table, and went to leave.
As we left the restaurant, we were accosted by the manager. In a quiet restaurant, being stopped like a criminal is horrible. He mentioned he'd be understanding and not call the police. I stood there in tears, humiliated and so upset. The waitress that complained to the manager about us just stood there watching and talking with her colleague. What was supposed to be a small snack after a 6 hour drive, was such a horrible experience. Obviously I won't be going back to this particular restaurant, but we'll skip pizza hut as the shared snack option ever again. The place was very quiet, we weren't taking up a valuable table at a busy time. Yes, we made an error that we established with the waitress we spoke to, but we were fair and we could have been 'spoken to' at the table. Honestly, I can't stop replaying this horrible experience and have no slept the...
Read moreWe ate here whilst staying in the nearby Premier Inn before a ferry crossing. Arrived around 8:30PM and waited around 5 minutes to get seated whilst staff milled about. We then ordered on the app as instructed and waited just over an hour for our meal.
When we arrived we noticed 3 staff members front of house, one chef visible in the kitchen and someone who was maybe a manager in more casual clothes also in the kitchen. One of the servers mentioned it had been a busy day when seating us and the next thing we knew two of the front of house staff were leaving and there only seemed to be one chef in the kitchen.
The remaining staff seemed to be trying to deal with both takeaway orders and customers dining in simultaneously and it was obviously too much (no slight against them, the service was good and food was OK, although slightly cold) - the issue was clearly down to staffing.
We spotted our pizza was ready earlier than the sides so had to watch it sit under the heat lamps until the sides were ready too, which was about another 5 minutes. When the server brought it over to us she said (unprompted) that they could re-make the pizza if it was cold but we just wanted to eat and leave at this point - what was meant to be a quick bite to eat had turned into somewhat of an ordeal.
We ordered desserts too but left after our main, who knows how long they would have taken to arrive. We could have probably complained and gotten money back but were tired and just didn't want to have to deal with it. The server appeared to be trying to avoid people as much as possible as everyone who managed to get her attention seemed to be complaining. We overheard at least 3 other tables as well as takeaway customers complaining about...
