Completely disappointed. Went here with my wife and 2 kids last Friday as a treat as they finished school for Christmas. Booked up online a week beforehand. We were all really looking forward to it. We were greeted by a friendly gentlemen who sat us quickly and said “someone will be over to take your order soon - any problems, let me know”. After sat at the table for about 10 mins, I could feel a cold draft on my back and neck which was really uncomfortable. I looked for the gent who sat us but couldn’t find him. A waitress came over to take our order - I asked if we could sit somewhere else as I was cold from the front door. She said she would ask and left - never to be seen again! Another waitress came over to take our order - I explained that we’ve been sat here for now 25 mins and I was very cold by the door. She went away and came back after a few minutes and said that there were no more tables. I pointed out 4 x tables all cleaned and ready to go, “can’t we have one of those tables” I asked. The reply was “no, they’re reserved for other people but we will keep the door closed for you”. I politely complained further but they said there was nothing they could do. The door was closed for about 30 seconds and then was open again for the remainder of my meal. I ended up eating my meal, shivering with my coat on whilst staring at an empty table away from the door. Starter was okay, main meal is too expensive for what it is. I was too cold to have a dessert. My Son’s plate was dumped on the table without warning that the plate was very hot - so he burnt his fingers. The table wobbled at every move we made. It was too dark to clearly see anything - only the booths had lights above them. Spent £105 and we all left miserable wishing we had of gone elsewhere. I work in retail customer service myself and if I can make a customer happy by just doing something simple for them (like moving them), I’d do it in an instant, with an apology and probably give them something as a goodwill gesture (so they feel valued) I couldn’t believe what poor service we received. Is it too much to ask to be comfortable in a restaurant? I just wanted to move to an empty table 10 feet away. On reflection, even if the table wasn’t an issue, the rest of the whole experience (food, value, friendliness etc) were all below expectations.

What a shame. It's been a while since I visited this place and now I remember why. The decor theme is getting a bit tired now. Sports, music, movies it's all be done to death and not updated in forever. Table was fine and our server was very polite and smiled the whole time through. She did seem busy but the reason why escapes me as there looked to be plenty of staff but also lots more empty tables. The menu was disappointing. Very limited. I remember it having lots more choice. I was then stuck for choice as I didn't really fancy what was in offer. Anyway, my daughter and I both went for the chicken strips in sesame seeds (we opted to leave out the chilli flakes..sensitive tummy's) it came with slaw and fries. I was quite impressed with the amount on the plate tbh and it was pretty tasty, especially the sauce. Drinks were refillable but didn't quite seem to taste like the real thing!! Anyway, I kicked the rear out of it and made sure I had my fill of refills. We saved money on pudding due to new users of the app and got them free with full meal. I had the brownie....very tasty and my daughter had the sundae with mallow. She found it too much (and that's saying something) and didn't enjoy it. It was soon time to leave so when I eventually flagged down our seems to be busy waitress I nearly had a heart attack at the bill. Since when was TGI sooooo expensive. I had to check and recheck as I thought there was a mistake. I've had much better for much less elsewhere. Needless to say I don't think I'll be back in a hurry *(To any TGIs) shame really as I used to enjoy going there. Some people may love TGI and I appreciate that, but it's not for me anymore.

I booked a table for 4 to celebrate our daughter’s 12th birthday, when booking the website asked if we were celebrating anything - yes I stated, the birthday. Great I thought, maybe they will do something for her. We arrived at 6.45 and were asked if we were celebrating anything. Yes we said, it’s our daughter’s 12th birthday. Great I thought, surely they will do something to make this memorable. For the first hour everything was OK, quick service for drinks, our starters and main arrived and the food was fine. At 8pm we have finished the meal and from then it was a very poor experience. We couldn’t catch the attention of a waitress, most of them were apologising to other tables about delays. Eventually we managed to order a final round of drinks which arrived at 9pm - our plates were never all cleared away and there was no celebration or mention of her birthday. By the time we left the kids were tired and bored - the restuarant was a total mess as they were clearly short staffed - we’d been there for 2 hours 20 mins - having wasted an hour at least. Overall - I would not recommend TGI Fridays - it’s expensive and it took far too long.

Have started returning to TGI Friday and boy I have not been disappointed. Always sit in the bar area now. And you get so well looked after by Cocktail Kathy and Ruby Red Hair. They can’t do enough for you. The drinks they make are delicious and their service is great too. They always look smart in their uniforms in fact I think they should both by promoted or given a bonus. They work so hard behind the bar and are always on the move. They always smile and they make me smile too :) I think they are a true asset to TGI who are very lucky to have them. TGI rocks :)

P.s. what happened to the guitar?

This TGI Fridays is great :) haven’t been for a while but well worth a visit if you’re around vastern court. Unfortunately I can only have non alcoholic cocktails but they are very nice. The sober loader is particularly recommended. Very good water. Supplied lots of ice which was great. Love the guitar at the bar reminds me of Eric Clapton. Interesting balloon display probably for birthdays which you can celebrate here in style. Really good music. Lots of reading families and friends enjoying their food. I can’t eat food here because of the syns but what I particularly recommend from memory are mozzarella dippers, nachos, loaded potato skins, any of the steaks, chicken pasta, glazed burger and the quesadillas were delicious but are unfortunately no longer on the menu. All the food tastes good though if you can eat it. Very warm welcome on arrival and all staff very nice and helpful and working hard. Interesting decor. Really good ambience with Reading people. I think they do balloons for children as I recall. I think children can have a really good time here and adults too. Staff in interesting uniforms with lots of badges for good work and serving in different TGIs. Which is good they recognise their talented staff. I met Vishal and Mansi and Mansi’s mum here and we had a good time. I have a lot of good memories here. The staff were and are always so helpful and nice and smiley. Thank you TGI Friday really recommend. I seem to have lost my review while taking a photo so I will try and remember. The drinks menu is very extensive and includes milkshakes. There is an interesting photo on the front as you can see from the picture. The coffee is delicious. There is an interesting fruit in the non alcoholic cocktail. It is very interesting indeed although I don’t know what it is. I have added some photos so you can see the guitar and balloons etc. p.s visited again today and this is still a great place. Lots of lovely reading people having fun. Diabetic loader tastes very nice but the green thing seems to be missing not sure where? MIA :) staff very nice...

We went out for a family meal to TGI's to celebrate my partners birthday. We had booked for 4pm originally but called up to change to 6pm as the website wasn't allowing any changes to be made to the booking. But the call was easy and our booking was amended without issue. Once there we were sat quickly. Took a little while for the server to come back, so ehen he did we ordered food at the same time as our drinks. He was very informative and was very honest about the food, was happy to make any changes that we wanted and show us how the app worked so we could save at the end of the night. My partner ordered ( the most expensive) steak on the menu, well it was his birthday after all! I ordered a half rack of ribs, the ultimate was off the menu as they had run out, but the lesser size one was still available so thats what I had. The food was ace, only fault if I had to find one was the size of the half rack of ribs, was defo on the small side, more of a rabbit size than a half size, but on a positive note, it was cooked well, as was the steak my other half had. Our Daughter had chicken strips and veg/fruit selection. Again these were tender and not dry, and the veg and fruit was freshly cut. The service was constant, and we were being checked on for more drinks etc while we were eating. Though some of the drinks did take nearly 15min to come, assuming this was because of the cocktails. As it was his birthday, he had to have the birthday song, hat and cake, which adequately embarrassed as planned lol. This wasn't planned at all but when I mentioned it was his birthday and could he have his slice of cake, the rest flowed as if second nature. Even with the 5 free cocktails and our Daughter eating free as an offer on the menu, it was still quite a margin over a hundred pounds, so no cheap night out. We did all had starters, main and dessert, but even at a count thats still quite steep for a family of 3. All in all a good evening, and good...
