Papa George — Restaurant in Thanet

What a beautiful little family run Greek restaurant!

We were aimlessly walking around Ramsgate, Friday night, looking for somewhere to eat, and we first hear some great tunes playing and saw all the flowers outside, so we ventured down the road and was immediately greeted with a smile from the family within. We like a bit of Greek food, so we went in and took a seat.

It's like going into the living room of a welcoming family, the atmosphere was intimate and friendly, without being over-bearing and the food was as good as you could ask for.

Whatever you ask for, make sure you have the homemade chilli sauce to accompany it, it was unlike any chilli sauce I've had before.

When we go back to Ramsgate, we'll definitely be coming back to Papa George!

How have we not heard of this place before is beyond me! What an absolute little gem! With family visiting from abroad we often do a mixture of cooking, eating out and take aways! Tonight we really fancied Greek and chose Papa George... As we went to collect our order from the distance we were greeted by a beautiful Greek music and as we entered the restaurant we were warmly greated and treated to a complementary bottle of Greek wine and an extra Baklava! Food - absolutely stunning!! Amazing starters! Mixed grill for 2 was more than enough for 2 adults and 2 small children. And last but not least- Baklava - better then the one we had in Greece! Astonishingly good. Discovered when we wandered past while staying overnight in Ramsgate, went in with no particular expectations but had also eaten in the Polish Bistro earlier in the day (also excellent) so decided to have a day of less obvious foreign food & so glad that we did, & also that they could fit us in as they only have three tables + a window-seat indoors, so keep that in mind & book ahead!
