Stunning date night spot in Cardigan! Imagine everything that a Hipster Pizzeria should have; now double it! The location and decor of Pizzatipi is by far the best I have ever seen across Pembrokeshire/Ceredigion. The grand Tipi itself is breathtaking and so beautifully situated in the middle of a romantic medieval courtyard, slathered in wondering ivy, rustic barrels and a necklace of warm glowing lights. Unfortunately we could not be seated under the Tipi itself, due to vast popularity, but we were equally blessed with sitting in a small secluded wooden booth, perched along side the River Teifi. Naturally I ordered the House Special Pizza as it promised me Oak Smoked Cardigan Island Mackerel on a Beetroot base with apple and onion salsa: and it delivered. The flavour combinations, along with vibrance of colour, were incredible. My only nag is that the pizza crusts were very thin and often shattered when tearing a slice: but that is merely down to the fact I enjoyed so much, I simply wanted more. My friend ordered the Gluten Free Pizza which came at a much smaller size than the regular base and lacked any feel of homemade pride. This lead to a lot of food envy, which unashamedly made me even prouder of my menu choice. Incredible location, dynamic and everchanging menu, chilled yet jazzy music, handsome staff and locally crafted food!

Disappointing Experience – Won’t Be Returning. Avoid!! I had a booking at 13:15 on a quiet Saturday afternoon and travelled from Bristol to meet a friend, looking forward to returning to the tipi after some time away. Unfortunately, the visit was a major letdown. While I understand rising costs, £17 for a pizza felt unreasonably steep. We spent around 20 minutes debating whether to stay or find somewhere else, and ultimately decided to share one Summertime pizza. It took 45 minutes to arrive, which seemed excessive given how quiet the venue was. When it finally came, the pizza was a real disappointment — half of it was burnt, the base was soggy, and it was overly greasy with toppings sliding off. It didn't feel freshly made or worth the wait. To add to the poor experience, two staff members walked past us during our meal without acknowledging us or checking in on how things were, a basic level of service that was noticeably missing. We ate it out of sheer hunger but left feeling disappointed. Sadly, the quality has really declined since our last visit, and based on this experience, we won’t be coming back. It's hard to justify the price for what we received.

Although popular and well attended, the entrance is a little obscure tunnell, not particularly well advertised. The new Riverside booths tend to be cold and draughty... whereas the tented area is heated.. by open braziers...seating seems a bit arbitrary and depending on when you book etc. Food is of a good standard although the pizza's are all thin crust and good quality ingredients there's a distinct lack of imagination on the menu and building your own becomes expensive...the local craft beer is worth a try and if your in a booth along the river ...smoking it seems is allowed so you may end up asking to move or for others to smoke elsewhere as the river breeze tends to push the smoke into the booths along with any ash that's flying about! Other than that the menu system is a bit clunky ordering via a phone app etc, especially as signal in the area is abit low. Service is reasonable and if you get a good evening weather wise your fine, otherwise it's likely to be a cold and slightly damp affair.

I'll sum up the below for people who don't want to read the full thing:

Go later in the evening if you don't want your experience ruined by kids running around and playing. Just have the pizzas, they are delicious but the dips and desserts are an absolute rip off! Don't go in the Tipi in summer as it's boiling. The staff are great and happy to help! The venue is stunning! Be prepared for a faff to order your food and drinks as there's no table service

Visited 14/08/23 with my Mum and Step Dad after a walk in the local area. The venue itself is stunning, the wooden decor and being on the river is very pretty!

Originally booked a table in the Tipi which was lovely buy very hot! So we asked to move outside and the staff were very happy to accommodate.

Ordering was a bit of a drama I won't lie, couldn't get on their app via the QR code as the phone singal isn't very good and the guest WiFi provided was so slow my phone kept trying to go back to mobile data and wouldn't even let me connect to it. So we eventually ordered at the bar which I would advise you do anyway since you can't order drinks via the app you need to go to the bar for them.

The pizzas came after about 35 mins which was a little long but they have a current wait time when you walk in to pre warn you so this didn't bother me to much as the venue was so nice to just sit and enjoy.

When the pizzas came they looked stunning and were absolutely delicious however because we ordered via the bar we didn't get to see what sauces and dips were available as these were only listed on the app and not on the physical menus or at the bar.

I went to the bar to get a pot of garlic mayo and vegan mayo was then charged £3.60 for these 2 pots of sauces. What an absolute rip off!

Once we finished our pizzas we ordered dessert, I had the Brownie which I though was very reasonably priced at £4.20 but then later found out it was £2.50 to add ice cream to it so £6.70 in total! And when it came the portion size was pathetic! My Brownie was about the size of your average slice of Mr kipling. Was gone in 3 bites!

Booking the table via the app was very easy however when we got there the front desk was turning people away despite having loads of free tables, a good 8 of which had no occupants for the 1hr 45mins they we where there so not sure what was going on there as it said the place was fully booked 17:15 - 20:00 when we went.

I know this is not the fault of the owners or staff but the amount of kids running around uncontrolled in the place was absurd. This was likely the results of parents who didn't care what their kids were doing but one thing Pizzatipi could do to help would be to have a section of the place where kids are not allowed. Kids were throwing stones in the river and running around the place. One even started doing the splits next to our table and then started throwing stones at another lady's bag. Again I will say this isn't the venue's fault but they can do things to help.

Another small thing that my step dad in particular was disappointed with was the drinks or lack their off, you can get your standard soft drinks but the beer and larger was very limited and only local craft kind of stuff available. We are all for new business and supporting the local ones so by all means have a few local crafts on the menu but please get some of the mainstream ones in as well like madri or bud. There's a reason they are so popular!

I would happily give this place another go but only in a few months time after these issues have been addressed:

If you are gonna implement an app based ordering system, please make sure your WiFi infrastructure is good enough for people to order on it. Also make sure the full menu including dips are in the physical menus and put the drinks on the app to.

Either up your portion sizes or drop your prices on the desserts as they are currently a rip off! They were nice but the portion sizes are pathetic.

Sort the booking system out! There were loads of free tables, despite only being given...

Well, wishing I had read more of the negative comments before going! Not worth the visit and the experience ruined the last night of our holiday.

The food itself was ok once we finally got it, but the place is very poorly run. 1st stood for 10mins at the check in desk waiting for someone to seat us, staff walking past and avoiding eye contact. Then once sat down did as was told and ordered food through the app immediately and then went to bar to get drinks. 40 mins went by and it was clear there was a problem - overheard other customers saying the app for food ordering had gone down so they had no idea who had ordered what…then chaos ensued. No organisation or logical thought, the staff went into panic mode. Began taking orders from 2 large groups and one of these had just arrived and not yet even ordered, completely ignoring us and another couple who had been waiting over 40mins and had paid for our food already!!! When this was pointed out to staff they were rude and indifferent (one lovely young waitress tried to help but her colleagues were not helpful). They said they had no idea who arrived when so needed to take everyone’s orders - but never came back to get everyone elses!

As these large orders were already in progress we then got left to wait longer. Staff never approached us to apologise/explain, in fact actively avoided us. After waiting an 1hr and 15mins we approached staff again and expressed we felt we were being ignored - others who arrived after us were now finished their meals and we still had no food. The lady who we spoke with was very condescending. She had given others free drinks/food, whilst completely ignoring us. It appeared all the larger groups were given priority/preferential treatment.

Eventually, and only as we had got quite cross at this point, one of the owners came over and expressed we would get a full refund but this has still not happened. I sincerely hope the debrief he said would happen for the staff has, and that they have a plan for what to do should this happen again.

Completely understand the app going down is no one’s fault, and we expressed this at the time but this whole scenario could have been much better managed, not one person took responsibility for it or dealt with it professionally, and there was no communication from staff.

I would not be recommending this place to anyone. There are plenty of other places that do a decent pizza - the experience is not worth it. It was a waste of a 40min journey and ruined the last night of...

To start with, we asked for a 6 people and 2 kids table reservation and they said they added chairs for us to a big table but when we arrived we tightly squeezed around a small table and that was what was reserved for us (no extra chairs but the same bench that was there originally). But we just moved ourselves to a different table and it was all fine. I ordered a special vegan pizza with potatoes and capers and 40 minutes later was served a pizza with blue cheese (not vegan), the potatoes were not cooked through and there were about 30-40 capers on my pizza (I'm not kidding...). The pizza base itself wasn't great either - the crust shouldn't be this dry and like a cracker, but that comes from someone who just spent 5 weeks in Italy, so that wasn't really my main concern. When we got served our pizzas I asked (as I always do to confirm) that the cheese was in fact vegan as the server placed them on our table. As I started eating it, well, I couldn't really - it was so incredibly salty, that even after removing all the capers I still couldn't eat it how salty it was. I have never tried real blue cheese but I was certain that what I was eating wasn't vegan. Thank god I don't have an actual lactose allergy because this wouldn't be a bad review but a lawsuit case huh! When the chef came up he of course realised just by looking at the pizza that it was blue cheese and sincerely apologized, asked us to make a new order for free and refunded our existing order. But the next pizza wasn't great either - nothing particularly wrong with it (apart from the same type of pizza base), it was just not nice. The drinks at the bar were also disappointing (and that's before the disaster pizza so I wasn't biased to think that everything in this place is off yet!). Overall of course I'm glad they at least refunded me and offered a substitute but I will certainly not be going back there again due to overall dissatisfaction with the...
