I always like to give places a second chance and support local. First time round we enjoyed the small plates but we had to send the sushi rolls back as they fell apart. I don’t mind spending money on good sushi and quality ingredients but did find it pricey. However we returned today, service was fine - the lady was polite and lovely. It was quiet which I like as I know we would get the food at its best, but unfortunately that wasn’t the case. Firstly the halibut fish skewer was extremely salty, I couldn’t eat it. The Vietnamese rolls we had to send back as they were stale (the rice paper was inedible, I think they had been left in the fridge to long) plus they were really loose - very much like my first attempt at cooking school in Vietnam. Not good enough for restaurant especially for the price and very basic ingredients inside. The sushi was probably the best out of the meal but again you don’t feel they are rolled tight enough and way too much rice not enough fish/veg. However I do appreciate the quality of the sashimi is good. I wouldn’t give it a 3rd go unfortunately and will have to travel to...
Read moreI’m always keen to support local businesses and friends recommended Kaizen so we booked in as a small group. Dairy and peanut were recorded, samples brought out and we were later told that the samples contained milk, although not great staff did apologise which was appreciated. However, we then waited an hour and a half before any food came aside from a small plate of chicken wings which randomly came around 45 minutes in. When the food arrived it was laced with salt to the point it was difficult to taste much else. Drinks orders were taken promptly but took a while to arrive and people who were there just for a social drink were constantly walking in and out between tables so overall the experience was poor. Kaizen is expensive for what it is and at a time where going out is only getting more expensive, you’re better spending your hard earned elsewhere as this place doesn’t live up to the pricing in my opinion. We may have just booked on a bad/busy night given the number of positive reviews but it was too poor and costly an experience to give it another go...
Read moreI haven’t written a review before but last year my boyfriend and i decided to eat here and oh my god the food was amazing. The atmosphere was lovely and the servers were kind, this is one of those places you go to for a once a month treat (if you’re skint like us).
The menu being small is a very good sign because that means the food is fresh and high quality. Im literally trying to manifest a time to come hete again and taste the same meal i had last time. I can’t complain about the prices, sushi is a delicate dish to handle and you can tell that it was very fresh and...
