Came into the Standard Diner a while ago after it continuously captured my attention whenever I would drive along Central. Though parking is somewhat of a challenge, this place is worth visiting as it features a lot of great American classics, which ironically enough, could be argued as being above the usual diner standard. Generally speaking, diners are places I typically to avoid. They have the gross tendency to thrive on mediocrity and have only ever left me feeling sorta "meh" after every meal. However, Standard Diner stood out as an expiation to this rule: proving not just to be a good diner, but an overall quality restaurant that turns out quality food. The menu features mostly American Classics, but some New Mexican inspired dishes can still be found throughout the menu. Patty Melts are both a personal favorite of mine as well always proving to be very difficult to find. So when I read that the menu offered a "Not So Standard" Patty Melt, I knew immediately that's what I would be having. I ordered mine be made as rare as possible and chose the seemingly intriguing Parmesan truffle fries to be my side. When it arrived, I knew at first glance that I was also looking at dinner as the portion size was more than generous (to my surprise). Keeping up with what I had requested, the patty melt was cooked rare as possible as blood-red juices secreted from all over the sandwich. The truffle fries were both delicious as they were different; something I definitely recommend you try if feeling at all adventurous. The Patty Melt itself came with everything the menu described: griddled rye, gruyère & cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, & roasted garlic aioli. Everything blended and complimented each other perfectly and in the end made for a pretty damn good sandwich. Service was certainly good as my waitress was every present when needed. One thing people may complain about when it comes to Standard is their slightly higher than average menu prices (especially for a diner). However, keep in mind that this place puts forth more effort when it comes to preparing their dishes and portion sizes are typically pretty decent nonetheless. In the end, I'm happy to have stopped by The Standard Diner as it not only provided me with a good meal but forced me to change my overall perception of...
Read more9 out of 10 The Range Cafe is a great place to go for classic American diner food in New Mexico. They have a wide variety of dishes to choose from, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. I recently visited their Albuquerque location and had a wonderful experience.
I started my meal with the breakfast burrito, which was huge and delicious. It was filled with eggs, cheese, potatoes, and your choice of meat, and it was cooked perfectly. The chicken fried steak was also excellent. The steak was tender and juicy, and the gravy was flavorful. I also had a side of mashed potatoes and green beans, both of which were cooked perfectly.
The service at the Range Cafe was excellent. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and she made sure that we had everything we needed. We also appreciated that she was able to answer our questions about the menu and make recommendations.

Read moreI almost never give a bad rating. Typically, if I had a bad experience, I skip giving a review. Not this time. I ordered online at this restaurant. My first time ever ordering food from here, and it is my last. The online purchase stated that the food will be ready to pick up at 12:19pm. I arrived and called at 12:20pm. The lady over the phone seemed very unhappy that I asked her for curbside service, as their Google Maps page says they do. I wanted to do it that way as I had already paid, tipped, and had an infant in the car. She insisted that the food was not prepared yet and that I would wait. She would come out to my vehicle when the food was ready. At 12:41pm, I got tired of waiting and I brought my infant inside with me to figure out what was going on. The food was sitting on the counter. When the woman came to the front, she gave me an excuse that the coffee machine was broken and they needed to repair it, and that is why it took so long. Obviously, they didn't actually repair it, because the coffee was lukewarm (I took a sip in the parking lot). The nachos I ordered were soggy. It was for rake out, but my destination was only a 4 minute drive from the restaurant. I won't be ordering here again. If you cannot provide a customer with their food within 5 minutes of the time you quoted them, you CONTACT them and explain what is going on. Then you offer to comp them something for the inconvenience, rather than make them wait in a car for over 20 minutes with a toddler to get lukewarm coffee and...
