I mistakenly went to this restaurant thinking it was related to the Sakura up on Coors. It's is absolutely NOT. It's a hole in the wall sushi place and the people who run it seem to be genuinely trying to giving great service. They were quite nice, but I'll never get take out from this place again, though I might eat in with great reservation. We ordered 4 rolls, 2 nigiri and 2 appetizers. The packing of the rolls was hap hazard at best. But I popped them into my fridge bag with ice packs, tucked them soundly into the front seat of my car and scooted back home. When I got home I found that the person who made a roll just improvised and put a ton of some mayo sauce on my roll. Mayo always upsets my stomach, always. I know Americans and Europeans use a ton of mayo on their rolls so I'm extra careful about what I order. I personally got the Yellow Fellow and the Thank You Roll, neither of which is supposed to have mayo. I don't know what the second roll I received was but it wasn't the Yellow Fellow I ordered. The rolls were large but not particularly well formed. Every roll piece was literally falling apart as we were eating them, some fell apart on they drive home (I'm not a person who whips about and this is unlike other sushi restaurants that I've ordered takeout from previously). They seem to be produced by a novice. The quality of the nigiri was fine so the fish was good, but those rolls were a whole mess. My husbands gyoza was slightly over done but also not very flavorful. The seaweed salad was good but fairly standard. My husband said his rolls were just fine, not good just fine. For almost $100, plus a tip, we expected way better. Very disappointing. Not sure how they got so many good reviews, unless those people were focused strictly on...
Read moreThe food is decent enough. The sushi came with a lot of fish, which is typically a good thing, except in this case the yellowtail could have been fresher (it wasn't bad, but could have been better in terms of quality). It was also cut very inconsistently, with one really thick end, and one really thin end, making it sorta hard to eat.
The seaweed salad was what you would expect, with a nice touch of acidity to balance the sesame. The spicy tuna hand roll, the tuna was ground into a paste instead of chopped into cubes, which made the texture questionable at best.
The service was terrible. The woman serving me had a severe aversion to customer service of any kind, visibly frowning and haphazardly sliding things around the table in a downright angry manner. It was confusing because I'm pretty laid back, so I don't know why she was acting rudely towards me. I got the sense I was not wanted there, and so I will oblige the rude server and not come back. There are better, friendlier, cleaner places to get sushi in...
Read moreDefinitely a disappointment, I expected 4.6 star food and service and didn't at all get that. The service was fine, nice lady. Prices about average, no free refills. My entire main dish tasted like it had been cooked on a burnt grill and was over cooked. The appetizer portion was pathetic for the Vegetable Tempura (6 sm pieces) The sushi was not all that impressive either. One roll should have been rolled tighter but at least had good flavor, the other was honestly just pathetic and didn't even taste like the ingredients were fresh. Two people, one appetizer, two standard sushi rolls and two main dishes. $60 ... definitely wasted money on that experience. Neither of the main dishes were even half eaten. Truly sad to say...
