What a gem! We ordered a variety of food and we were really impressed. The Boudin was delicious and spicy. We also shared poor boys with colorful names such as a Muffaletta and a Cochon De Lait. Both sandwiches were huge and great, packed with flavorful meat, and I would order them again. The pulled pork in the cochon melted in my mouth and I could tell it was smoked for 13 hours. The Jambalaya was very tasty with exquisite andouille sausage that was smoky and spicy just like you would expect. My favourite thing was the Gumbo. The Roux really floored me with the flavor and the texture. It was amazing, and we definitely plan on dining here again next time we roll through town.
We chatted with the staff while our to-go order was prepared. The owner, Erina, makes everything herself and picks up deliveries herself. The staff was the friendliest we have met in our many travels. They claim we come in as visitors and leave as...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I visited Alexandria from MS and googled an authentic Cajun place to eat, and this was pretty much the only option. We waited 35 minutes for some kind of Cajun quesadilla that we had been recommended and it was one of the most awful things I’ve ever been served. The worst part was the fried shrimp, they were the big flat battered frozen kind like you get from a Chinese buffet, except they were undercooked and mushy grey in the middle. Even after picking those rancid things off, it was jambalaya smothered in kraft America singles cheese, with tasteless rubbery sausage and yellow sponge chicken. It was disgusting. We picked through it and ate some of the rice before my boyfriend started feelin nausea (probably from the grey shrimp). Was way overpriced and seriously disappointing. Would...
Read moreMy hubbie and I were in Alexandria visiting our grandson for the 4th of July holiday..we were going to leave that same day but we had tremendous car trouble and had to forego our leave...my daughter in law's father recommended this restaurant to us and he raved about the quality of the food so we decided to give it a try. The owner herself greeted us and took our order. After a brief conversation we found out we were city neighbors..i.e. Baton Rouge/New Orleans...The food was beyond delicious and truly reminded us of good ol' home cooking...It made our car troubles seem not that big of a deal.. Thanks Lil Cajun!!!! You truly made our stay memorable...
