Ayat Allentown — Restaurant in Allentown

AWESOME EXPERIENCE!!! Ordered online catering for my sister's retirement from teaching for over 25 years! Ayat made it perfect. The ordering process was very user friendly and all of the dishes were explained down to the last ingredient. I thought I ordered for Pickup in Allentown... But I mistakingly chose the Brooklyn location when I ordered!!! I noticed my mistake and contacted Ayat via email explaining my "near heart attack" error!! I received a reply no more than 10 minutes later assuring me that my order would be taken care of in Allentown. Phew!!! On the day of the party, I got caught up in last minute preparations and was running late to pick up my food. I got a call from Ali from Ayat, confirming that I would be there for the food. When I apologized for running late, Ali offered to deliver the food to save me some time!!! This kind of service is unheard of today. Seriously. Luckily, my event was just a few blocks away. I arrived at the event, which happened to be at Jay's Local in Allentown. The boxes that the aluminum pans of food were in were just beautiful! The food presentation was gorgeous and the tastes were outstanding! I knew the food was good because I had been to the restaurant before. I usually prepare my own food for parties, but wanted to enjoy everything this time. My guests would not stop commenting on how delicious the food was. I have some pretty picky vegetarians in my group, and they loved everything! Ali went above and beyond and out of his way to make this day special for not only me, but especially for my sister. I highly recommend Ayat for a family dinner in the restaurant, a catered event in your home or even delivery on a night when you don't feel like cooking. Any way you go, Ayat...

I’ll start with the food. Everything we had was very good! We had leftovers, portions were fine.

Unfortunately, first impressions almost turned us away. Half of the long weed filled grass was cut and half not . Grass was covering all the sidewalks and was raining. Never even blew off what they cut? Went in, grass covered mat ,looked fine. inside , service very ,very slow and three different people waited on us. Took LONG. There seems to be lots of thriftiness , sloppy outside, cheap spray painted signs and connect the dots decor in hallways and restrooms, also spray painted, very childish work. I am glad I went to the restroom after we ate, completely filthy, dirty. Urinal covered and not sure why they have no towels in the dispenser just a portable air dryer? Some contraption on the toilet too? They did not take any time or pride to put in to this restaurant before they opened another one? It’s a shame the food is very good and the restaurant does not give you that feeling at all. For these reasons no one in our party will come back. How stupid are the people responsible for automatically billing 15 percent for partys of 2 to 5. I had 20 percent ready for them ? Can’t believe people would not tip for the quality of food, if atmosphere would support this restaurant. On the receipt it states recommend tip 3 percent, 5 percent, 10 percent? ? Never seen billing like this? You are not in New York here! Trash laying in the parking lot among the long grass and weeds. Two desserts they were out of. The knaffee hardly had and syrup at all, was average. Forget about selling merchandise and fancy bags and boxes and spend some $$ for professionals to clean...

Edit** I revisited again with the wife. So I never realized that there was a mandatory 15% added to the bill. I ALWAYS TIP 20%. My first visit I didn't pay attention to the bill but knew it was off. So including the added 15% plus my 20%. It makes sense now..

I rechecked the bill on my second visit because of the first. Then I saw the 15%.. I was like you fudgers lol.. I added an extra 5% and not sure I would visit again. At least put up a sign and inform your customers. Being sneaky is not good practice. Reducing my rating on this place. Back to Sahara, True Blue, Lazees, Afghan Kababs and the Medeterian grill on 100 to name a few spots nearby.

Tried this for the first time. Not too sure of the Cuisine but I've had similar at Limon in Hellertown and Afghan Kababs on west Tilghman. The food and service was amazing. The interior is clean and has a nice open layout. Each table gets a fried bread with olive oil and some type of condiment that has great flavor. Had the chicken Kebab platter which comes with a salad and rice. The chicken was moist inside and flavorful. My co workers had brick oven pizza which they loved and finished. The price is reasonable.
