Spouse and I frequent Alpena, Mi for out of the way gems. Nowicki's is on the absolute short-list of faves. We have eaten on-site (safe, highly informal, hygenic and very reasonable, though small daily menu). Small and large dining areas. Purchased many meat-based brats, sausages, pickled products, etc. Superb, Old World quality in their products. Totally non-corporate! Absolutely earth-rooted staff (approachable, hospitable, informative & yes, at least in my experience, fun folk). Upper body promotional garments, ice cream and a very clean, modest environment. Impeccably clean restrooms! No fritzy, illuminated signage, adequate parking, ground floor access. Deer Hunters note: They offer zero rough processing of game but welcome the clean, no-hair boned meat to create their quality product offerings....again, note that their seasoning vastly differs from that of corporate wild game seasoning processors. Ponder Question: How many different flavors of cider mill donuts have you ever tasted....they are all the same! Nowicki craft is departure from that corporate venison seasoning crap!! Expect a near future personal processing review, specifically focusing on their venison game products within the before Nov 1,...

You MUST get landjaegers from Nowicki's. My in-Laws recommended it because they have been going here for decades but I was so skeptical and thought it was a preference thing. We bought three types of landjaegers sausages (original, honey bbq, jalapeno+cheddar) and didn't try them until we got back to California. All of them were so well-seasoned, good textured, and perfectly flavored! These are made with beef instead of venison, as per law, but they were hands down better than any of the store- bought and mail-order Wisconsin ones we've tried. I regret not getting more while there because they were so addictive. I'm going to have to order through their website to restock. The jalapeno-cheddar is easily a crowd favorite. To me the original and honey BBQ are tied for second place. The cherry salami was ok, but it wasn't as good tasting as all the...

Best array of sausages in the area and they are delicious. We stop here regularly to stock our freezer with German brats, Beer brats, and fresh smoked Polish sausage (great in a pot of sauerkraut). Other flavors we like are the Russian Reuben brats, Festival brats, and Chili cheese brats. You can also buy a brat in a bun for lunch, chips and beverages are also available. If you do that, try their Everything brat if available. These are made from the bits of fillings leftover from daily production and mixed together. No two are alike and as you eat, each inch may take you from spicy Italian to jalapeno cheddar to German to potato. They can only serve them for lunch, not packaged due to labelling requirements. Its a fun mystery lunch that has never disappointed me! A trip to Alpena is no longer complete without loading up...

My partner and I were driving around exploring the area when we stumbled across this place. My partner loves German food so we figured why not. The layout is self-serve and the super friendly (and handsome) gentleman at the counter, Jason, was full of recommendations about about the sausages and condiments available. The dining room is small but clean and cozy. I'm not a huge bratwurst fan but the Cuban brat is BOMB. I enjoyed it so much I felt the need to high five my new pal Jason for giving such a good recommendation. He was also full of knowledge about the cool old building and the other products they sell. It was such an awesome experience that we'll definitely be back!

The $2.99 Brat sign is what made pull over. The quality and and service is what has made me come back for years. I also frequent the location in Rogers City and it’s JUST as good. I literally go to Alpena for two things: Rockport State Park and NOWICKI’S. The Festival Brats are my favorite, theyre made with the freshest ingredients and the peppers are so good in it! My husband LOVES the Weisswürst. Thank you being the best restaurant in Michigan. (I’m not kidding...this is some of my favorite type of food, you’re the BEST at it!)

Just happen to be passing through for work and saw the sign outside talking about their bratwurst. Decided to stop in and grab a bite before I hit the road and I'm glad I did! So good that before I pulled out of the parking lot I ran back in and grabbed a package of brats to bring home! Definitely worth stopping in if you happen to be in the area.
