We arrived on time at 7pm to a very empty restaurant, not even close to capacity or even what I'd call busy in any kind of way. We were seated by the host and poured glasses of ice water by a young man likely in his teens, who was of dark skin complexion. I only note this because never once did we hear him introduce himself and what he was doing for us, or mention his name. Once he finished pouring the water he left the table. We sent one of our party members to the bar for the drinks menu, and she spotted the gentleman who served us the water, and he was sitting at the bar conversing with a lady customer. When she asked the bartender for the drink menu, the young man from before jumped up and followed her back to the table. He then proceeded to take our drink and food orders. At this point we were forced to assume this gentleman would be our server for the night. We were at the restaurant for an hour before getting our drinks. It took even longer for us to finally be served our food. The Ahi Tuna was the dish I ordered personally. The tuna itself was good, mind you. Only there were maybe 6 slices of it in total on the plate. Not nearly enough for the price. It was plated in slices atop a bed of rice and leafy spring greens. To the side of the plate was a seaweed salad, and some of the always perfume tasting pink cabbage that you get on Japanese dishes. The rice seemed to have been soaked and crisped in an ash tray. The greens underneath had also been bathed in the same form of cigarette smoke as the rice, and was too burnt tasting to eat. The seaweed salad. I cannot describe it in any way that would do justice to how poorly prepared this side dish was, but it had the texture of cold, wet, salty sea weed freshly pulled from the gulf, and the chew of it felt like I had slimy earthworms in my mouth. Never in my life have I spat out food into a napkin before discovering this phenomenon. Needless to say, I wasn't able to stomach this dish. So I sent the same member of our party as before to go locate our server, who once again was seated, chilling at the bar. She returned with him and I told him of the horror of this dish as politely as I knew how, and asked if I could trade the dish for a plate of the shrimp and grits. He took the plate away and I waited while everyone else ate their food. Of course everyone was finished well before I got my replacement plate, and had to get a to go box to take it home for later. When the server brought the to go boxes to the table, he asked me if I would like to keep my tuna from the first plate since I found it edible and it would otherwise be thrown away. I said sure, of course. He then left to go get the tuna, so we thought. Again, a half hour goes by. He finally shows back up to the table with our checks, and no tuna. He then disappears again. We decided to find our own way to the bar to pay for the meal instead of waiting for him again. When I made it to the bartender to pay, the server was there again at the bar with him. I said to him "You can put that tuna in a to go box for me real quick bud." He says "Oh.. what had happened was.. the tuna was right here a minute ago, and when I came back to get it for you it was gone." I replied "So your plan then was to what, just let us sit and wait until we hopefully forgot about it?" He said "yeah I guess so. But hey, at least you got a free meal out of it, right?" I replied by handing him my meal receipt for 88 dollars and change, and asked him to show me where I received a free meal. He said that he personally chose not to charge me for my first plate that I sent back, because it was restaurant policy to charge half price for a returned plate. After laughing at him for this notion and thanking him for his favor to me, he said "It's hard to get good service when you're being rude." Needless to say, we won't be back to...
Read moreThis is an absolutely beautiful restaurant that is extremely clean, smells perfect, looks beautiful and you feel like you are about to embark on a special occasion every time you enter, even if it's just an ordinary day! Unfortunately, on our special occasion, not our ordinary day, their food was not as grand as their atmosphere. Let me begin with the specialty drinks, when you order a drink that is described on the menu and you receive something that is completely different than the description of the drink on the menu you should not be told you are wrong. I do know what ginger ale tastes like and I do know my drink did not have any in it, I also know it didn't have any of the other items as described because I would have seen two of them. I was given a gin and tonic with a lime twist, not a Ginger gin gin. My husband's entree was mediocre, not what you would expect nor what we have had before at this establishment in the past. My fish was cold, my side was burned and when I suggested I receive one that wasn't burned it took the wait staff till the end of the meal before I received the vegetable... after I already ate the cold fish. Once again the wait staff was very rude. My husband requested water refills twice and only received one just before we were getting up to leave. The restaurant was not full, there were not a lot of things going on, it didn't seem like anything was in a rush. It just really bothers me that we were stuck in a corner and ignored... maybe this is the way they do business now. Hopefully it was just a bad day for them. I'm just happy I was celebrating my 34th Valentine's Day with my husband who I love more every day! This restaurant can't mess...
Read moreThe best customer service and hospitality I've ever experienced! My grandmother, mother and I arrived to Anniston, AL around 2pm on a Saturday to shop and enjoy our time when we searched and came upon Classic on Noble. We were saddened that it opened at 5:00pm on Saturday, but it was definitely worth the wait. When we arrived, we were greeted by David (the owner) and he gave us such a warm welcome and asked if we were from the area and what bought us to the area. Very seldomly now a days do you receive such hospitality and delicious food which was a plus.
But let's get to the DRINKS + FOOD! The best part... the spiced-carr is the best drink on the menu! It's strong but not overbearing and hits the spot! We had ordered the oysters for our appetizer; however before that even came out we were surprised by David bringing us a beautiful and oh so delicious appetizer... that's not even on the MENU he created it himself!
For our meals, we ordered the fish of the day, which was the sea bass with a lemon sauce and rice and asparagus, filet with mushrooms, onions and potatoes and the shrimp and grits. NO COMPLAINTS!
We even ordered the white chocolate bread pudding which I'm so glad we did even though we were all soooo full! It was to die for! It was perfectly warm on the inside, nice sponge cake with a delicious sauce. Just Yummmm!
I will definitely be returning to Anniston and referring everyone to Classic on Noble who decides to come this way or pass through Anniston!
Special thanks to David for making our first visit so impeccable & my birthday dinner even better !
If I could give it 10...
