Mi Cancun Taco Shop — Restaurant in Apex

If you’re looking for great Mexican food…this isn’t it. I tried the tacos de asada and the meat was not even seasoned. The tortas don’t even come with all the usual toppings that a torta is suppose to include. The torta de asada only includes the bread, meat, cilantro, and onion. I’m Mexican and this is the first time I’ve heard of a torta only including those toppings. I asked about the beans, lettuce, tomato, etc (you know all the usual toppings on a torta) I was told they can include those toppings at an extra charge per topping. I was left speechless because that was a first lol. The agua de horchata is mediocre. If you want better Mexican food at a better price, just go down the road to the Mexican food trucks. RipOff!! They charge $2.99 for Soda then hand you a can. When I asked I was told "No Refills". When I said "I am Not Paying $3.00 for a canned Soda he replied "It's not my prices, Sorry". I pointed it Also didn't Say Cans nor No Refills. Eventually they gave us 2 cans to go (which is Still a Ripoff: 6 bucks for 4 canned Sodas??). The Food Sucked. I ordered the Lunch special chicken quesadilla and it came Dripping wet. I peeled off the tortilla and Tried to eat the insides but it was wet stringy chicken with no flavor. I Made a meal off of Cold chips (not even warm) salsa and rice. Hubby got the Taco Salad: Again, a Wet gloppy mess. At $25.81, this was a Huge Disappointment and a Serious Waste of Our Money. This is a small, cute taco spot..has the food truck vibes but in a small restaurant so not too much seating inside. Service/waiters were very welcoming, fast to take our order and get us chips and salsa as we waited.

Now to the food..I got the pastor, pollo, steak and spicy steak tacos and all of them were/are delicious! Plenty of protein provided and you also can choose between corn or flour tortillas for your tacos. All of the taco options are really good and well cooked.

Where the restaurant is located the parking is kind of tight but it's not too hard to find a spot since that area doesn't have too much people traffic all day long.
