⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I knew the food was gonna eat the second we walked in and it definitely did not disappoint. Aside from the music being played, some country music and even Israel Kamakawiwoʻole, the restaurant held a respectably muted atmosphere. The place wasn’t busy, but based off of the reviews and the food itself, it should be. The blonde guy working at the front in the red shirt was super helpful. He showed my mom pictures of the cod in the fish and chips order (thicker) vs. the cod in the seafood platter order (thinner) and helped her figure out what she wanted to eat. He even walked our order over to us even though we were like 12 feet away from the front counter. He didn’t skimp on the sauce either. We got 6 malt vinegar packets, 4 tartar sauce packets, and 4 cocktail sauce packets (which I mixed together). He was very sweet. We ordered: 1 Banana Pudding 1 Peach Cobbler Single Seafood Platter with Shrimp (excellent) Fries (Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Some were a bit dry, but keep them wrapped until you’re ready to eat them and that won’t happen.) A side of shrimp (also excellent) One fish and chips (mom loved hers). My seafood platter lasted me 3 meals, my peach cobbler only 1 (it’s better that way). Synopsis: We will be back. The prices are relatively cheap (for the amount of food you’re getting) which is hard to find nowadays, the service was great but not all-in-your-face enthusiastic which is a breath of fresh air, and the food is cheat meal worthy. The only reason you shouldn’t go to Skipper’s Seafood is if you’re allergic to seafood! If not, you have no excuse. Take the 10-15 minute drive and get yourself some good food!!🍤🍤 6/5 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I have a picture of the cobbler, but my camera doesn’t do it any justice so I’m leaving it out.

Skippers is a quant little seafood and BBQ restaurant with a decent selection of menu options. The restaurant has a small bar in the entry area where you place your order with a couple of small tables. There is also an attached dining room with plenty of seating. The food all looked very good. But sometimes looks can be deceiving. The fish tacos left some to be desired. Not a lot of flavor despite even having a crema sauce drizzled. I tried both blackened and just regular salt and pepper seasoning. The clam chowder tasted more like a cream of celery soup which was a bit odd. The hush puppies and fries were good, and I will say this, the fish for the fish and chips was really good. The flavor for the fried breading was good, the fish itself was tender and moist. My wife raved about the peach cobbler. I'll say this, if we are in the area and are craving seafood, we would go back. but I would definitely choose some different options. I was intrigued by the fact that they had brisket as well, but I think I would probably go simple and do the fish and chips. The staff was very friendly, and prices are pretty reasonable for the quantities.

I had the pleasure of being served by Robert and let me tell this gentleman’s customer service was phenomenal. As a first time goer, he was considerate enough to go over the menu with me, described the various menu items, and let me know about their most popular menu items. He was very respectful, kind, and accommodating. Robert made the experience wonderful and had great energy. Now, the food was another bonus. It was actually super delicious and came out hot and fresh. I ordered the fish and chips basket (with hush puppies) with a side of fried okra. Robert brought my order with some extra in house made seasoning salt (you gotta have that with the fries and okra). The fish was cooked perfect and the fries were nice and crispy. The okra was breaded well and paired well with in between bites with the fries and fish. I will most certainly be coming back to try other menu items. My only regret is I could not try everything all at once haha.

Went inside, ordered takeout - 3 item seafood platter : baby shrimp, oysters, & trout. With tip - $29.31. Trout filets (2 small peices) were cooked & tasted ok but both peices had many bones, i grew up close to the NC coast so i'm use to bony fish - just didnt expect that many in the filets. More than half of BOTH the shrimp AND oysters were fried so long you couldn't stick a fork in them. The oysters I couldn't eat were black/burnt. For the 2 vegetables I ordered slaw & onion rings. After a couple mins I told cashier I wanted fried okra instead of onion rings, he went to kitchen to make sure cook saw the order change, cook said he saw it. When the cashier handed me the order to go he said the cook had already put the onion rings in the tray so he just added the fried okra to the order at no charge, that I was getting 3 vegetables, i said ok & left. When i got home the onion rings - very stringy & very lightly battered and were no where close to being cooked - there were so many they took up over a third of the tray, I might have eaten 4 of them. The best part of the meal was the slaw - very good - and the portions for shrimp & oysters were a gracious plenty. Usually it's me & my wife eating when we eat out but this evening it was only me, soooo glad I didn't pay $60 + this time! We've eaten at Skippers more than 50 times and have never had any complaints so I'm hoping this time was just an anomaly. My wife grew up in Apex and we now live in Cary so we'll give Skippers another try but ONLY ONE ... we're both Senior Citizens so $60 + for 2 seafood dinners is too much to keep...

Saw the combo of seafood and smokehouse BBQ and a 4+ star rating, decided to give it a try. Not disappointed!!! Restaurant was quiet for a Friday night but it was the Friday after Christmas so...but there seemed to be a brisk to-go business taking place. Initially we thought it was takeout only!..was not greeted initially as we lingered back to survey the menu. Once we approached the counter, we still wasn't spoken to but was met with an eager smile. I will take it! I asked a few questions to get the best of a bbq sampler that wasn't offered and the cashier made it happen! As I was working through that, another employee made sure that my dining companion was not waiting to order. Food took maybe 10 mins to arrive hot and fresh! I got brisket and ribs with a side order of fries. Brisket was tender, moderately juicy, not the best bark but flavorful. No smoke flavor but decent brisket! The ribs did have a hint of smoke and had a little pull to get a clean bone. Decently seasoned for a dry rub rib. My dining companion had popcorn shrimp and fried oysters. Decently seasoned and huge portions for less than $15! It was enough to share! She said the corn did taste from the can with no butter nor seasoned. The fried okra was good! The restaurant wad clean and another party did come to dine in before we left. There was a slight sewer smell in the men's room but it was clean with hot water. I am not in Apex often but would definitely dine again for the friendly and accommodating staff, hot, fresh food, and...
