Marlin Restaurant- Mexican & Seafood — Restaurant in Artesia

I've spent hours trolling for marlin, but somehow Marlin hooked me, instead!

Occupying the former location of stalwart Dolphin Bay Cafe (later Blue Bay Cafe), and then a short-lived Chinese food restaurant, Marlin Restaurant has set up shop, offering daily specials for the hungry masses-

Mon - Burritos asada & a can of soda/$6.99 Tues - 3 tacos w/ rice & beans/$4.99 Wed - Fish ceviche tostada/$4.99 Thurs - Ham, asada or chicken quesadilla/$4.99 Fri - Asada torta w/ fries/$5.99

Asada quesadilla Thursday Special/$4.99- Not skimping on the meat at all, the asada quesadilla was cheesy, fatty & filling. The included sour cream, salsa & carrots rounded out a flavorful plate for under $5.

Shrimp ceviche tostada- Looking for a seafood dish, as the namesake Marlin & Seafood are both on the marquee, I settled upon ceviche. I asked what type of fish is used for ceviche, which I told was mojarra (tilapia). Opting to spend a little more for shrimp, I'm glad I did. A very generous portion of bright, fresh & plump shrimp, adorned with cilantro, salsa & cucumber, topped by heaping slices of avocado, I loved digging into this! 2 tostadas served as edible plates, as I relished each heaping spoonful of ceviche upon the crunchy dishware. Thumb's up!

Service was excellent. The kind lady working the register was friendly, and gave recommendations when asked. Currently, no dine-in is allowed, and there are no al fresco tables available, as well. Parking is via a private lot. Marlin Restaurant is located across Pioneer Blvd. from 99 Ranch Market.

Future forecast - I'm going to be a regular at Marlin Restaurant. The food's killer, and is reasonably priced, especially when referring to the Weekday Specials. I already have designs to come back for Taco Tuesday, perhaps choosing pastor & taco gobernadors. And, maybe huevos a la Mexicana for the heck of...

I've visited here twice since this year started. The first time I was on a mission to find a local fish taco that I liked...not undercooked or covered in crema, but crispy and flavorful. Marlin delivered. 👍They do fish well. I really like their chile too. My garlic fish plate had a generous portion of food. It came with tortilla chips, potato salad, and corn tortillas. Now that's a meal! The stellar customer service is what I really enjoy. The last time I was there waiting for my order I was chatting with the hostess and she had me cracking up. 🤣 This pandemic needs to be over because I can't...

We contracted food poisoning from this place. My girlfriend had the Menudo and became very sick from it, I also tried some and became sick. She spent the next days vomiting with diarrhea, cramps, stomach pain, nausea. When I called the lady that answered said she wasn’t allowed to give her name out, and to call the manager 4 days later when they come in.
