I was excited to give this restaurant a try after seeing all the amazing photo's on instagram. I went in for dinner last night about 7:30 It was a beautiful night, cool weather nice enough to sit out on their beautiful patio; however it was full. So I grabbed a seat at the bar since I was dining alone. but No bartender. After a few minutes I looked back at the hostess to see if I could get a menu to look at while I was waiting. She was gone. It was probably a little over 5min before the bartender appeared carrying liquor bottles and on his cell phone. He did notice me and he gave me a menu. I ordered the el diablo which was delicious. I asked what the fish of the day was, he didn't know, neither did the other 2 employees that passed through the bar. It was the Mahi which he thought, and that's what I ordered. I asked if I got any chips and salsa as I was starving and saw them on nearby tables, and she said Yes, I'll get it for you. Never saw her again. The male bartender seemed to be extremely preoccupied with stocking and arranging the liquor bottles on the back wall than he did with catering and engaging with his guests. I asked him, do I get chips this is my first time here so I wasn't sure? He replied, oh yea, I'll get you some. took him a minute but I finally got some chips/salsa. Love the thicker corn chips and the salsa was delicious. Shortly after my meal came. It was beautiful, it's pictured on their website photos. Mahi over coconut rice with avocado cream and pomegranate seeds... Guess what?! I have NO Silverware! I asked the gentleman that brought my plate he said he would get me some. A few minutes go bye and I'm still waiting... I flag the inattentive bartender and there was a plate setting on his side of the bar just in front of me. Why didn't he put that out when I ordered? he saw me grab a bev nap to wipe my fingers after eating a few chips... So after a few bites the food runner finally appears with silverware. Where the hell did he have to go to get them? Mexico?! The bartender did check on me half way through my meal. "like he was trained." I would have liked some salt&pepper and hot sauce but didn't even want to bother. A great server anticipates the guests needs. If you just want to be an order taker go to taco bell. The bartender should never leave the bar if he/she is the only one. A couple of females after me also walked up to the bar while he was off doing whatever. I've grown up working in the restaurant industry and own a business, so Yes I expect more; but this was truly unacceptable. I did not feel welcomed or even thanked for choosing to dine with them. Loved the atmosphere, so it's really disappointing. You...
Read more5 stars for food, drinks, and aesthetics! Minus 3 stars for the service. One server in particular ..Shelley with the pink flower hair clip.
After having an amazing self care day, my bestfriend and I decided to end it at Chido’s (this place has been on our list for months!)
We ordered mango ginger margaritas, and Shelley brought us red drinks with mezcal. When bringing it to her attention, she apologized and returned with the correct drinks. She asked if we still wanted the red drink. I said no because you can’t even pay me to drink Mezcal (not a fan). My bff however said that she’ll drink them. She left the red drinks on the table giving us the impression that they were on the house (given that we never ordered it and we both took a sip because we didn’t know that it was the incorrect drink).
Next. Our food arrives to the table. My quesadilla was in the shape of 2 tacos and had no color to it. Per the menu, the quesadillas are dipped in chili sauce. Therefore, I asked the other waitress who brought our food if this was the correct item. Before finishing my question, Shelley pops up behind us with an attitude and barks “yes, that’s what you ordered”. Wow. Took a bite and was very content with my food.
Check comes. One and a half of the incorrect drink remains on the table. She charged us for one of the incorrect drinks. She said that it was because my bff said she would drink it. She only said that because why let it go to waste?
Cutting me off mid-sentence for the SECOND time, Shelly snatches the receipt out of my hand and returns with a new receipt and slaps it on the table. After giving her our cards, I let her know that her behavior was very disrespectful and I was offended. What a great way to ruin someone’s day. Maybe she was having a bad day or even irritated by us (which would have started due to her error). She should have switched with another waitress or not work in the service industry. Things happen and we were still very kind despite her ill treatment all night.
When she returned with our tabs to sign, she apologized and discounted our tabs. That’s appreciated but that doesn’t take away from the feeling of disrespect to having a receipt snatched out of your hand. Treat people how you want to be treated.
Will return and be sure that Shelley is not assigned as...
Read moreHad guacamole, short ribbon and chorizo sopas, tuna tostados, skirt steak fajitas, churros, and a watermelon magarita. Everything was ok...nothing spectacular except the menu items. It's like you read the menu as a foodie and your cravings are excited in anticipation of a flavor bomb...but it only delivers a scant of a spark... Some items were well seasoned i.e. the quac was giving elevated chipotle vibes but the sopes were screaming for salt. The tuna tostados were good but the foodie in me recognized the tuna itself wasn't the freshes...probably one day away from throw away if not used. The Mexican rice that accompanied the fajitas was light and fluffy but the charro beans need a pinch more of flavor. The skirt steak had a nice marinate but instead of cutting it in slices it was cut in chunk like pieces making it tough to eat and the accompanying onions and peppers were screaming for seasoning. Churros were good but if taken out of the fryer about 10 secs earlier they would have been a little less dry on the inside. The chocolate dipping sauce had a watered down flavor while the vanilla sauce was delicious...The waiter was nice however new, so really didn't have the answers to basic questions about the menu...but had no problem going to ask the kitchen for accuracy. The complimentary salsa was very cilantro forward with extremely thick tortilla chips...not my vibe. I prefer spicy, thin and crispy. The atmosphere is friendly and the interior is decorated nicely. Overall not really worth the drive and traffic but if you are in the area and are craving Mexican...check it out. Hopefully the chef will be generous with the seasoning flavor on your visit because the menu is promising. Oooh the watermelon margarita...blah. They use fresh watermelon puree and obviously didn't do a good job picking that sweet ripe watermelon that...
