We visited The Local ATX for a Sunday brunch. It’s a small, quaint and intimate restaurant. Fairly busy but we were seated quickly. A little too dim as the lighting took a few minutes to adjust to but once you settle in it’s just fine. Our server Daniel greeted us immediately and we ordered our drinks. The brunch menu offered great options for drinks, appetizers & entrees. I had the Breakfast Sammie on a potato bun with house sausage with herb fries and my friend had the build your own plate with biscuits and sausage gravy, eggs and sugar bacon. Nothing fancy just a good ole fashioned southern style brunch. I recommend asking for an over easy egg instead of the scrambled eggs for the Sammie but overall a really great meal. Daniel was very attentive to our needs giving us a really good experience. Parking was a breeze and overall I’ll definitely be back. Pricing was aligned with portions and quality and definitely affordable for those who want a nice place to meet up with a friend or family without breaking the bank. Accommodations were more than adequate which included a small sit down bar with two tv’s if you go alone. See you guys real soon and thank you for everything💯

Very nice establishment. Stopped in for lunch. Had the sweet potatoes hummus and grilled salmon. Service was great and very friendly. Food was spot on. Exactly on point for a place named the local. Approachable. Delicious. Not too much. Nothing I’m giving a Michelin star, but left feeling satisfied with taste buds a buzzing. Only minor complaint is it was a cold day and a little chilly inside. You picture a local as being warm and cozy. They had a fire on the TV. And speaking of props for not unnecessarily showing whatever chive or mindless programming on the TV. It’s there if there is a special game but otherwise the atmosphere is much better with nothing on.

July 2025 The Local was an impressive setting to enjoy brunch. I love the decor and the staff felt like family. There was a nice large bar and all indoor seating and had that old fashioned early 1900s feel. I ordered the Breakfast Sammie. Like the menu said it was cheesy scrambled eggs, candy bacon, chipotle Honey Aioli on a Potato Bun. It was very tasty with great flavor and enjoyed it very much. It was clean and perfect making it one of the best breakfast sandwiches I had.

My 1st experience here was when they first opened, I live in the area and I LOVE breakfast food. My favorite meal of the day is breakfast. I ordered the biscuits with some breakfast items. Food and service were okay, nothing to write home about. What wasn't good were the biscuits. Biscuits were huge, and of course due to their size, were still raw on the inside in certain areas. We ordered 4 biscuits and only ate 1 due to all of them being still raw on the inside. I hadn't thought of eating there after the raw biscuits, however, I decided to grab to go biscuits today and see if it's changed.

Service was worse, they didn't even speak to me the entire time I was there. Just pointing and making grunts when I asked to get my to go they just point at the bar. No acknowledgement of me besides the pointing. I go to the bar to grab the food (it's not busy no patrons at the bar) bartender just looks at me and continues to make a drink. Doesn't even say anything to me like "how are you, or be right with you)...just tosses the bill on the counter at me. They grunt when I ask to pay with apple pay instead of card. Biscuits came out fine this time due to them decreasing the size. But service was a disaster for something so simple. No one seemed to care.

I doubt I will ever come back here, poor service, poor environment are a turn off. Okay food doesn't help either. I'd recommend going to a different restaurant if you prefer good service...

First time here, been waiting with anticipation since the website boasted great food.

Wife and I both ordered fish for the entree and the Local dip for an appetizer, which was pretty good but maybe needs a bit more quantity to it for the price. It's just enough for 2 people for $12.99

I got the fish and chips for $18 and my wife got the Cod sandwich for the same price. Both just come with 'herb fries.'

Both of the fish components were overfried and both orders of fries were overdone as well. All of the fries were very hard and we had to pick a lot of the breading off the fish as it had become a hard shell.

Service was ok, maybe a little unaware. Ice water had like no ice and the glasses are way too small for a full, sit-down restaurant.

Didn't have any cocktails because they're $12+. Everything is a bit too high in price for what we got.

Got out of there spending $50 + $10 tip and not very satisfied which is a bummer because I was excited about a new local place in the neighborhood but nothing about it felt 'local', except the prices.

In response to the owner

I don't think the 'guidance' on your $10 glass of mid-shelf wine or the $7 shot of Taaka is going to fry those golden filets properly, but you're welcome to try; just not on us. We will...

Nice place... super cool concept. This place is very close to where I live and I have been wanting to go for several weeks. I went on Sunday when "the brunch" menu is the only option until mid afternoon... which was a critical error on my part. My wife got the biscuits and gravy and thought they were good... and really enjoyed the jelly. My 11 year old got the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes that had a blueberry topping and loved them... I got the steak and eggs and was super disappointed that my over-easy eggs gushed with as much uncooked white egg as it did yolk... way under cooked. The steak was unseasoned (bland) very small thin and well done even though I ordered it medium... upon seeing the size of it, I am not sure why they ask how you want it cooked... 15 seconds on a hot rock and it would have been cooked through. It seemed as though the meat had been boiled... no color inside or out... almost grey. The fries were thin and cooked and seasoned well, but there were so few as to disappoint. Many of the photos in other reviews show plates with plenty of fries but I got much much less. Cost was reasonable for biscuits and gravy and pancakes, but bizarrely high for the steak and (inedible) eggs. May return when they have lunch...
