Rico's Tacos & Tequila — Restaurant in Avon Lake

👍🏼Absolutely Delicious!👍🏼 I moved to Ohio from a border town in South Texas. Where real mexican food is the norm & everything else is trying to be. BUT This place. This golden gem called Rico's Tacos & Tequila completely knocked it out of the park. Walked in, place was clean, smelled clean & is beautiful. The art and decor is true. There's a nice live performance stage with a fireplace. We were promptly seated by our friendly server. Service was fast, food was hot and flavorful. Appetizer was the mexi calamari. Yum! Temp was hot and flavorful. I ordered the Torta.. my number one tester in any "mexican" restaurant. I immediately smiled. Yum! (Steak Torta) My husband ordered the lunch burrito, I didn't hear which one sorry. But It was delicious. I had a piece. Chips and salsa were incredibly fresh. Guys, I was impressed. Prices are great considering other places like Don Tequila, since they raised their prices, we haven't gone back there but Rico's, oh man, great prices and great food. Highly recommend!! We dined in to support the business & employees. Give tips and meet staff....

My wife and I came here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. We loved the location , the decor, ambiance. Very authentic looking Mexican restaurant. We got seated quickly, and our server was very pleasant. The chips and salsa was VERY good. Salsa tasted fresh and the chips were nice and crispy and had a good flavor. My wife ordered off of the lunch side of the menu, which was the grande burrito. I ordered the quesa birria tacos. It came in an order of 3 with a hot broth type soup. Our food came quickly and was hot. I don’t have any complaints other then the food was not very seasoned at all. My tacos were very greasy and the taco meat was bland. My wife’s burrito was the same way. She had chicken for the meat, and it was bland as well. We felt the prices for the entrees was pretty high. But being in Avon lake. Yeah. The rent must be high in this building. I mean. You do get good portions but I’ve had meals that cost less at other Mexican restaurants that tasted better then here. I really wanted to like this place, but we probably won’t...

Today was first visit and we were really happy.

The exterior is deceiving, it looks super small, Cool atmosphere, and there's a nice sized stage, so I suspect there have entertainment. Outside, is a large patio with several tables and cabana type bar with a large flatscreen tv.

Fiesta tacos were great, not slathered in sauce, with great flavors. Mexican street corn was delightful. Perfect portion of rice and bean-a lot of places overdo this IMO. ( Tacos Ala Mexicana pictured)

Only small complaint was the margarita. We all expect cocktails to be overpriced in restaurants, but this was far too expensive for a large glass packed with ice and very little margarita.
