T.K.K. Fried Chicken — Restaurant in Baltimore

It’s decent but I was a little disappointed. Did a pickup order and the chicken was fairly good and juicy with a nice crust, but our order had just come out of the fryer when I picked it up.

The spicy isn’t spicy at all - I had trouble distinguishing it from the regular crispy chicken. I’m not sure if that’s typical or some other issue.

I was disappointed they don’t have their own sauces - If I had known it was Ken’s I would have passed on the surcharge as I can take out better sauces from the fridge (which I did).

The coleslaw was bland, the “cheese fries” were an order of fries with about a 1 - 2 oz container of canned cheese sauce (like you get at any convenience spot) on the side (not sure what I was expecting but a $1 whatever surcharge for that isn’t worth it). Cheese curds aren’t worth it, they were pretty boring and honestly reminded me more of fried mozzarella than curds.

One lesson I just don’t get how many take out places haven’t figured out is you cannot put hot fries into a sealed box - they steam and turn into a rubbery mess. Even venting the box slightly helps but if you close it up tight with a waxed box it simply steams and the end result is “why bother”. This is why most burger places use paper pouches that are open on top.

That all being said the chicken is ok - Royal Farms is a little further away so this is a decent option in the Charles Village walking area, but Royal farms has them beat on flavor. The crispy chicken recipe has a nice crunch but with no unique sauces to go with it - it feels a little...

I've eaten here a handful full of times, but was disappointed to have found a hair in my mashed potatoes. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Also I placed my order online for two orders of the 6 wings, believing I was going to get whole wings, per the picture online shown next to the 4/6 wings being whole wings, only to get home to see it was party wings. The chicken itself was good as always. Thought I would get curly fries, it was regular seasoned fries which were just ok. I'll just say this was my least favorite experience with the handful of times I've been...

Lame. Chicken was nicely cooked and had a great crunch but it wasn't the best chicken. Whatever makes the spicy chicken spicy is an oil. I prefer a sauce or just a good dry seasoning. I might consider it again. Fries are garbage, don't bother spending money on any version of them. Worse than fries from a grocery store frozen aisle.

Being attached to Kung Fu Tea put me in a position to give them a shot when all I originally wanted was bubble tea. In the end I would've been happier with just the bubble tea and keeping the rest...
