I have to say that we were excited to try out Evenrood’s. The atmosphere was very pleasant and modern.
When we walked into the restaurant there was no one to greet us. We waited for a bit to no avail so we grabbed menus that were sitting on a table, and wandered into the restaurant and finally someone who appeared to be a manager told us to seat ourselves. We sat at an empty table, and a server showed up with a very bland greeting. We ordered drinks and were ready to order our food, then the waiter told us about their specials. The dinner rolls that the waiter brought were hard. We ordered, a charcuterie board, lobster Alfredo, and a filet for dinner. My friend ordered his filet medium, and the filet was closer to well done, my other friend’s charcuterie board looked colorful but was mediocre, the lobster Alfredo was very bland, and salt and pepper couldn’t help the meal, and the lobster was over cooked(rubbery). I had to flag down another waiter that was hustling about to ask for our server since he never came back to check on us after our dropping off our meal and was on his phone at the bar. The server comes over, and ask what was wrong. My friend explained that the filet is close to well done, and the young man seemed puzzled by this, no apology, no nothing. We all wait until the filet comes back to eat together. The steak served was the head not the center cut of a filet, extremely tough and sinewy . The mashed potatoes tasted like ones out of a bag that’d been reheated, the bearnaise sauce seemed like it came from a packet as it was extremely powdery. All in all, the food was poor. The server never came back to ask how the new filet was, and never questioned why none of us were eating our meals, as we left more than half uneaten. He didn’t even ask if we wanted any desert or coffee. While we waited for our server to come back to the table to drop the check we observed a couple of the kitchen staff roll the trash out through the main dining room, past our table and through the front door and down the street behind the building. Considering the exorbitant prices of the menu items that’s unacceptable. It’s really sad, because this restaurant has SO much potential. We paid $122 plus a cash tip. We will not be back. Not impressed.
Just so you know the gentleman that ordered the filet has been a chef for over 30 years, and has even cooked for a U.S. President. My other friend has been in the hospitality field for over 20, and I have been in the restaurant business for 40. We know that there are times when you have an off night or things get hectic and you drop the ball. But taking into account the numerous other reviews reporting the same food quality issues, this is a trend and...
Read moreI waited 12 hours after I left this establishment to calm down before I decided to write a review, we ended up at evenroods because we had a hungry pre teen after a girls night out and this was the only establishment without a long line or crazy wait time, well I guess now I know why. We were sat at 6pm and promptly asked what we'd like for an appetizer. We ordered and app which was decent in its timing to arrive at the table. We still hadn't been asked about drinks or even provided any. When we did other drinks it took almost 40 minutes to even get those and we only got 2 of the three we ordered, when I went up to check on this the bar tender told me the drink on the counter was ours and I could take it myself. Fast forward to an hour after we arrive and having to ask the waitress to take our order as we hadn't seen her even once since we ordered our drinks (someone else took them to us) she took our orders and we waited another 40 minutes, now if it wasn't for having a hungry teenager with us I'd have left. The food arrived cold hard and even some frozen. When I asked to speak to someone else about how we were treated and the way the food was presented we were told the manager wouldn't be out to see us and handed a $60 bill for food we didn't eat. We all left hungry, cold, and disappointed. This establishment isn't even worth the one star review I'm forced to leave. I can now understand why every other restaurant downtown had a waitlist, and this establishment we were able to go to no wait off the street. The prices, insanely rude staff, and clearly overrated chefs should be ashamed to consider themselves...
Read moreI would give the food 3 stars: nothing special. I had the seafood chowder and the pan seared scallops. The chowder had a strong oregeno flavor. It overpowered what was in it, but it did have a strong fishy smell so maybe that was a good thing. The scallops were cooked well, but the choice of rice or mashed potato was disappointing. The service would be 0 stars. The bartenders were absent. I ordered a beer when I got seated, but then it was an awkward transaction when I wanted to order food. I had my entree served and then I ordered a second beer. About 20 minutes later I was finished with my food and requested the check. I promptly paid and then when I was ready to leave a blonde lady came over and told me she needed to increase the bill. Apparently my second beer was never logged into the POS system. She then added the $9 beer to the bill and left the original tip on it. I guess I should have looked at the bill more carefully, but the original total was close to what I expected. I think it is concerning that they are not entering charges promptly into the POS system. It was also somewhat forward of them to include the original tip in the new amount they gave me a receipt for.
They had a private function while they were open to the public, so the atmosphere was noisy. Two people getting drinks for the function almost spilled one on me. If they are going to use the entire dining area for a function, they might as well close to the public.
When I left, no one from the bar or the host staff bothered to say thank you Perhaps they should stick with the name "Evinrude" as that was the whole vibe I got...
