Had great food and beer, really enjoyed the burger and sweet potato fries. One of the members of our party had a spice allergy to which she informed the waiter. However, when the food came the dressing with a side greens was spicy which wasn’t edible due to the allergy. We asked the waiter if it had any pepper or spice in it and he said no, other members of the table tried the sauce and agreed that there was indeed spice in it. At this point, no big deal, easy mistake to make as a waiter all he needs to do is just replace the small side of greens with no sauce! Which is exactly what we asked for next. However, he said he could do that but would have to charge for the greens. Extremely abnormal to do so especially with something as cheap as side lettuce. We said that normally a restaurant would do this for free or the server would just automatically bring it back to the kitchen and replace it no questions asked, however the waiter responded with “excuse you, the dressing has no spice.” Extremely unprofessional, while the kid was young, he still should not have acted that way. He also offered to give us the recipe to prove there was no spice however, when we said that would be great he said actually I can’t give you the recipe. Really a shame because the food was great, just never seen this level of unprofessionalism at a restaurant. For future reference, if someone has a food allergen and the waiter does not know, it’s no big deal to make a mistake but in practice, the customer is always right, having worked as a waiter myself I know this. Just replace the probably half a dollar salad which would take 2 minutes and all would be fine. Waiter was super nice outside of this...
Read moreGreat beer, terrible staff!! My cousin really wanted an old fashion with Brown Sugar Bourbon, as she doesn't drink beer and there's a full bar. Unfortunately they didn't have BSB so the server offered to try And make something similar using brown sugar. My cousin agreed and both of us thought it was awesome they were going out of the way to do this. After waiting for 15+ minutes for the drink, it was absolutely disgusting and not at all drinkable. And I'll drink just about anything!! We sat for maybe another 20-30 minutes trying to get our servers attention but she ignored and walked by us over and over. I had time to finish a taster flight and a pint and wait for ten minutes, and still no help and no check back. This is with my cousin and I trying to wave this lady down and get her attention so my cousin could order something new. This server was in the back almost the entire time and had maybe 3 other tables while we were there.... When enough time passed that it began to be ridiculous we went to the bar top and explained this all to the bartender who was super kind and apologetic about the drink as well as the terrible service we received and offered to comp the drink, saying she can't blame us for trying something new and that she herself thought the drink was disgusting when she tried it. After weeks of me hyping up Sunriver Brewing to my cousin, we both left super disappointed and headed less than two blocks away to 10 Barrel Brewing where we received outstanding service and had delicious drinks and a great time. I won't return to Sunriver and would recommend that people travel the extra block and go to 10...
Read moreI’m extremely disappointed with our recent visit to Sunriver Brewing’s Galveston location. After a fun day out, my family was looking forward to a great meal, but this experience fell far short.
I ordered Wagyu sliders with sweet potato fries, but the fries were burnt to the point of being black and inedible (I wish I would’ve taken a picture for reference). When I informed our server, Mallory, she acknowledged the problem and offered to replace them. However, we were in a hurry with three young kids, so I requested a refund instead. To my surprise, they only removed $2 from our bill, which didn’t seem fair, given I received no side dish.
To make matters worse, a 20% "large party" gratuity was added to our bill for our party of five (two adults, two children, and an infant). Mallory explained that the baby counted toward the gratuity, even though the menu clearly stated the policy applies to parties of six or more. She did adjust the bill after some discussion, but her demeanor was notably negative, and I overheard her complaining about the situation to another server.
I wrote an email to the management team to express our concerns, but I received no response, which only added to our frustration. Despite the poor food quality and inattentive service, we still left a tip out of respect for the service industry. However, we left feeling unwelcome and hesitant to return.
Families should feel valued and respected when dining out, and unfortunately, that was not the case here. I hope the management will take this feedback seriously, as it reflects poorly on the...
