Extremely let down by this place. Not sure where to start. We were seated not far from the hostess stand. There were 2 other tables already seated in the booths near us. We waited maybe 10 - 15 minutes before our waiter came over and he seemed alittle discombobulated like he didn't know he was supposed to be in our section or something and he scrambled to take our order. He brought 2 glasses of water with him to our table, which was nice, but never once asked us if we wanted something else to drink (I would have ordered a Yueng Ling had he asked). He walked up with the water and literally said "would you guys like to order some appetizers?". Never introduced himself or asked about drinks. Then he went over to the other 2 tables that had been seated before we even got inside and asked them both for their drink orders. So that means neither him or anyone else had gotten to those tables before we arrived. He was good with asking us if we were okay or needed something. However, we ordered 5 appetizers and he asked if we wanted everything to come out all together at the same time to which we said No. Then the food took forever to come out, and when it did - all 5 appetizers were together. So of course some the of the food was room temperature/cold. The mozzarella sticks were not good at all. But also were not warm/hot either. The loaded fries were quite possibly the worst thing I ever got at a restaurant. The bang bang shrimp was amazing!!!! The shrimp tacos were good. And my sweet chili nuggets were good but on the colder side but still good.
The table/booth next to us had a few cups sitting on the table, and they had been all pushed together like someone was going to bus the table. But nobody ever did. Those cups were there before we arrived, and we're still there when we left. They were setting for a DJ towards the end of our meal. So the staff began to remove the chairs and tables I guess to create a dance floor. Heard one of the hostesses ask someone to get some other guy to come bus a table near the DJ - where no one had been sitting - so the only reason that table was bussed was because they literally needed to carry it away.
Also, outside by the ramp to the front door is a giant banner that says NOW OPEN. But I heard this place has been open for over a year. So I guess the guy who was supposed to take the banner down is the same guy in charge of bussing the tables.
My waiter brought me a 2nd glass of water - which tasted funny. Like a metallic taste. But I did not taste it in my 3rd glass. But despite having an empty cup on the side of the table, he never brought me a 4th one or asked if I wanted one.
When he saw that we were done eating, he just brought the check. Never asked if we wanted something else or if we wanted dessert - which I wanted to order the Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate.
I go to Parx a few times per year, so I always want to eat at one of the local spots in the area. So I MIGHT try this place again, but I feel like my concerns will only...
Read moreStopped in on a quiet weekday evening to catch the start of the Phillies game. First time back since it was “The Pub,” which, to be honest, had more charm in its decline than this place has in full operation.
Walked into a near-empty room lit like someone forgot to pay the electric bill. The vibe? Imagine a dive bar that gave up halfway through its own identity crisis. Took a seat at the bar, hoping for something resembling service.
I don’t drink alcohol at all, so I asked the bartender—who looked like he’d just wandered in from a bus stop—if they carried Heineken Zero. They didn’t, which is fine. I spotted an Athletic in the fridge and asked for that.
He grabbed it with the enthusiasm of someone handling a live grenade, stared at it like it had personally offended him, then poured it into a glass. Halfway through the pour, he asked if I wanted it in a glass—because apparently, time travel is real and decisions can be unmade mid-pour.
Then, without a hint of irony, he informed me that the glass was warm and “it’ll probably taste like sht.”* Stellar customer service. If he was going for brutal honesty, mission accomplished. If he was going for literally anything else, well… maybe try again next shift.
Then came the bill: $6. Not that the price was outrageous, but after the preemptive flavor warning and the general vibe of “I’d rather be anywhere else,” it felt like paying for the privilege of disappointment.
The atmosphere was dark, awkward, and about as welcoming as a DMV at closing time. A couple next to me had clearly been over-served, but the drinks kept coming—because when the bar's standards are subterranean, what's one more?
Another guy was pacing the bar like a stressed-out line cook in a fast-food kitchen, yelling things I couldn’t quite make out, but none of it seemed helpful.
Needless to say, I didn’t stick around. I wasn’t expecting much, but this place still managed to underwhelm.
Good luck to them—I sincerely mean that. But I won’t be back. Life’s too short for bad drinks, warm glasses, and service...
Read moreFirst timer, been wanting to come here. Finally got the chance. I only have 1 disappointment. I'll start with the good, first. Building/atmosphere, good! Looks awesome and not run down. Seems they are tweaking some areas too which is okay. The banquet/private party area looks fantastic! They have 3-4 bar areas. 1 for the private part, the main/round bar, a small bar in the dining area, and next to that is the outside bar. The outside bar looks spacious and will be a fun spot to hang during the summer. I expect to be there. The menu was good with plenty of options! I had the special which was swordfish. First time in my life. Very flavorful! The rice wasn't great, too dry but it has great potential. They offered me another side which was awesome! Good customer service. Our waitress was helpful and always checked up on us which I appreciated. The menu was standard but with a bunch of different options thrown in to change/spice it up. I would 100% recommend going to try it out for yourself. I certainly plan to. Now, my disappointment... the beer selection. I was expecting something to rival UNO's variety. It is NOT a terrible selection just not as big as I was expecting. They had a bunch on their menu I haven't tried, which is good in my opinion. I obviously tried a few and rated them on Untappd (JKem87). I could have stayed a few more hours, eating fun and delicious apps/plus enjoying more beer, but I had to go. I will be back and I highly recommend you check it out!...
