Dick's Bakery — Restaurant in Berea

Update June 2023: POSSIBLY LOSING THIS GEM!!! I am SO SAD to learn that the bakery is up for sale!!!! They are hoping the buyers will continue the bakery and they will pass their recipes along to the new owners....so HOPEFULLY we won't lose their legendary date nut cake and their incredible chocolate chip cookies, which are my favorite. Still my absolute favorite bakery in NE Ohio. My mom passed away in February but we still got her favorite, the date nut cake, for Mother's Day and we will get one for her birthday in June this year and every year after that we can. I TRULY hope & pray that this bakery survives with new owners, whomever they may be.

2021: Awesome bakery!!! My mom LOVES their date nut cake which we get her every year in June for her birthday. They also have amazing pastries, danishes, cookies (their chocolate chip cookies are my favorite) and so many other items!! You will not be disappointed with anything...

I have no idea how this place is still in business! We desperately tried for weeks to order one of there "famous date nut" wedding style cakes. The people answering the phone never knew anything about cakes. They told us to come in to order it so we could talk to the cake person. They told us when to come. We went and no cake person was there. We told the lady what we wanted and even showed her a photo. Nothing complicated. She said they could only do white frosting no colors. Also we'd have to decorate it ourselves and tier it as well. Hello... Isn't this a bakery?!!! We seriously ended up making our own cake pictures below to show how simple a cake this "bakery" was incapable of making. Ridiculous! Also unfriendly. Their cases were mostly empty and I heard her say they couldn't sell a customer cupcakes because they were still frozen. Um...ok. WORST...

My daughter in law pre-ordered three cakes, 2 date nut and one chocolate at $15.00 each cake. Her car broke down, so she requested I pick up the cakes. I called 1st to confirm. The lady had me on hold for a while and said she can't find them. I had Angela call them to find out what happened. They said they did not have an order, so they created a new order. I picked them up and paid personally for her plus nice tip. As I'm driving home, Angela called me and said the mechanic picked up the cakes and delivered to her since she was so upset about her car. Meanwhile, I am stuck with $50.00 of cakes. Fortunately, they were so good that I was able to gift to several family members. It all worked out, but the disorganization could have saved me money.
