After working a 12 hour night shift I was handed a business card and a promotional paper saying that a free breakfast item was offered for just the price of a comment card. Ať first I wasnt going to go but I'm so glad I changed my mind and checked it out. It had a really cool name and I was curious. Upon parking in the parking lot I felt unsure that they were actually open since the sign outside said they were not due to be open for two more days, but I walked up and saw that they were in fact open and eager to make their first item of the day. I had not looked at any menu online, but the owner was awesome and let me know what was available and helped me and I decided on the pulled pork sandwich with egg and cheese. As I waited for the item to be made I was able to really get to know the staff a little better. Honestly the whole crew was truly amazing and the sandwich truly lives up to it's name of being soul food. I really appreciated that the sandwich was so well balanced that it allowed one to really taste each of it's components equally while still blending together in a savory and satisfying way. The egg was perfeftly cooked so the yolk didn't just drip egg yolk all over the place and the cheese was melted perfectly so as not to overpower the Star of the meal which is the pulled pork. All in all it was an experience and a sandwich that will have me coming back to try more meals...
Read moreTonight was my family and mines first time visiting Griffins and our trip was very pleasant, first the drive way came up on us fast the sign light must have been out or flipped off on accident which is no big deal, shit happens. Second theirs a BUNCH of parking as well as a decent size waiting area very reminiscent of a Chinese food restaurant, maybe could use a couple more chairs but honestly no big deal just chilled in my car and listened to some tunes. Third the star of the show the food! I had the flight of the griffin with some sticky icky sauce and the garlic sauce and oh my lord was it amazing everything went perfect together you can taste the love and pride in the food! My wife got the spudded tots with garlic sauce and some blueberry bbq sauce which also hit the spot all and all it was a great success! We will very much be back again and again definitely...
Read morePros: you can feel the pride in the food they put out. Polite, smiles, proud to serve it up for you. When the people making the food are the people in the pictures on the wall, you know they care. Food was solid. Got a mac and cheese bowl with chicken tenders. Solid amount of protein, good price. Fried chicken sandwich is also a good size. Hearty food. Liked the terrible puns. Seasonings and sauces add a good variety of flavors to the base dishes.
Cons: seating! Only 1 awkward chair to wait for food. And it would also be great to have somewhere to eat it...need some outdoor seating I think. Would be convenient AND make the place look more lively/open. Hush puppies and tots a little too greasy, probably just too fast out of fryer. A little cheesier mac and cheese would be nice too
Overall positive! Interested in trying the pulled pork next time! Keep up...
