So, David Carrigan (owner) told a professional black business owner that they do not host "for-profit" events in their establishment. That's noted, however, why is this event being allowed if it violates the rules?
There was a communication issue that was not made clear, at any point in time during their exchange. Without proper communication (as they claim) and without payment, this event should not have happened. David and his team ALLOWED it to happen because of the financial profit they stood to make, however, none of the violations of the contract were verbalized, written, or communicated in any other way than "we're not a good fit". They then turn around and host a similar event, lead by a team of white hosts that is ALSO for-profit and according to David, in violation of their contract. This leads us to believe that this is an implicit example of racial bias.
When the team was called out on their contradictory statements, David removed his comment and allowed his "black employee" to speak on behalf of all black people and their experience of this establishment. I offered a more appropriate statement that should've been made and several of their patrons agreed that Kristy's response was insensitive, racially motivated and highly unprofessional.
David says they were notified the day before the event that it would be "for-profit", which is a lie. An event page was created, published and publicized on both eventbrite and Facebook. Both services send notifications to establishments whenever their location is listed as a host of an event. It should also be noted that Kristy's reasonings and David's reasonings differ, right down to whether or not they allow "for-profit" events.
Should you find yourself in need of an inclusive pub with a diverse clientele, look elsewhere cause THIS AIN'T IT!
S/N: Black folx do NOT appreciate being used to justify anyone's behavior as "not racist." Using the "we're not racist. We employ/ are related to/ have (insert demographic) friends" line is a moot point when your ACTIONS and BEHAVIOR are louder than the...
Read moreOur recent "casual get together" class reunion at Carrigan's Public House was an absolute success, thanks in large part to the venue's exceptional service, delectable food and drinks, and welcoming atmosphere. With over 100 attendees, we were initially concerned about accommodating such a large group, but Carrigan's staff handled it with ease. Their friendly and efficient service ensured that everyone's needs were met promptly, without any hiccups.
The cocktails and beer selection was extensive, catering to a wide range of tastes. But the true stars of the show were the culinary delights. The chicken fingers were the thickest and most flavorful I've ever had, and the lamb burger was a symphony of flavors that blew my taste buds away.
What truly set Carrigan's apart was its "public house" atmosphere. The open and airy space allowed our group to mingle freely, wander around, and connect with old friends. The ample seating ensured that everyone had a comfortable place to relax and enjoy the festivities. Additionally, the strategically placed water stations kept us hydrated without the need to constantly queue up at the bar.
We were also grateful for Carrigan's willingness to accommodate our request to bring in balloons and decorations, which allowed us to make the space even more festive.
Overall, Carrigan's Public House proved to be an exceptional venue for our class reunion. The combination of excellent service, delectable food and drinks, and a welcoming atmosphere made for an unforgettable evening. We highly recommend Carrigan's for any group event, large or small. We'll definitely be back for...
Read moreCame here on a Friday night, stepping out trying something new again.
Very nice "Hipster Chic" atmosphere. They were actually playing some great music but only the lows of the beats were audible due to the fact they only had 2 small overhead speakers that were visible to me at the time. Large place with a decent amount of seating, but you'll have to hunt for it when it's packed. There's a patio with tables and benches for when it's warmer out as well! Haven't experienced it yet but I believe there's also rooftop seating.
Brew selection is decent, and handcrafted cocktails are usually good as well. Wifey had the Kung Fu Wings which were pretty good. Sweet chili, crushed peanuts and ginger lime flavors covering some medium sized wings makes for a nice filling appetizer!
I ordered the double burger... I'm not saying this is the best burger I've ever had, but it's the only burger I've eaten in life without either ketchup or bbq sauce. I asked for a medium cook, it was a little more done than medium but still very flavorful. The garlic aioli, white cheddar and sweet pickles come together in a fantastic way that you'll have to experience yourself! I do recommend this menu item! (also give it a shot with ghost pepper cheese...but you've been warned!)
All in all... very good trendy spins on typical bar food, good beer menu, hip atmosphere. Love me...
