I've been to this restaurant twice before and I have never in my life experienced such disrespect and racism. I took my older brother here for the first time on Friday, (03/10/17) and I must say it will be my absolute last time ever eating at this establishment. I walked in with my brother and was not even greeted at the front entrance. I did not react, I kindly went over and told the waiter "table for two". He told me a table was not ready yet so I needed to wait until it was cleaned off. (No biggie) I waited there and I was seated within about two minutes. Now it's my experience after being seating that completely disgusted me with Brookdale Thai Restaurant. My brother and I had sat for a while and when we finally decided what we wanted to eat. We had flagged the waiter down gave him our appetizers and entrees orders and the waiter placed two wine glasses on the table (FOR THE BOTTLE OF WINE I HAD SEATING ON THE TABLE). So we opened the wine bottle and began to talk and I seen what looked to me like the owner or maybe the supervisor came over to the table to the right of me said, "how did everything come out". The couple responded "everything was okay just alittle too spicy". Then the woman walked near where my brother and I were sitting and said very discreetly "Oh, usually we don't allow hard liquor in here". I looked around the restaurant and saw wine sitting on everyone else's tables. So I could not understand what she could have possibly meant by that. I responded politely and said, "this is wine." Then she stated, "No, I know. I just thought I should tell you." In my head, I'm thinking to myself why would she want to tell me that when EVERYONE WHOSE EVERY GONE TO A THAI FOOD RESTAURANT KNOWS MOSTLY LIKELY HARD LIQUOR IS NOT ALLOWED. BUT WHAT SEEMED TO BE THE BIGGER PICTURE WAS WHY WAS SHE TELLING ME THEIR POLICY ABOUT HARD LIQUOR WHEN IT WAS OBVIOUS THAT WINE WAS ON OUR TABLE. (And she confirmed she knew that!!) I looked at my brother, and I could see how uncomfortable she made him feel. She walked off to the register which was toward the back of the restaurant and stared at my brother and I the whole time we were there. Not once did she come over and ask how our meals came out or anything. The waiters stood next to her at the register the whole time while we ate. I saw the waiters running back and forth but, never once came to our table. I had to flag the waiter down after sitting at the table for about an hour-after being done my food. I will say this here and I will saying this anywhere. I WILL NOT SUPPORT ANY ESTABLISHMENT THAT CAN SINGLE OUT AND TREAT ANYONE LIKE THIS. I urge all of you to spare yourself the embarrassment and disrespect! JUST EAT ELSEWHERE!!!! This...

I've been going here since 2009 and the food is great. (Obviously there are some things I don't personally like but that's just personal taste). The reason I won't give it 5 stars is the owner or boss lady is absolutely horrible. I went there with my mom once and she sat with us trying to force us to order something else because we always order the same thing. We were already eating and she just sat there harassing us. Then on another occasion we left a $5 tip (again just me and my mom) and she chased us outside and said that the tip wasn't enough. Then (this was the final straw) last week I went with my husband and my cousin and ordered what we normally ordered and something new off the seasonal menu. When they hand me the check I go to the counter and she asks how was the food, I answered her honestly and said the seafood we ordered had way to much ginger but overall everything was great. She got offended and went on a 2-3 min rant. Now this is when I decided that I was no longer going back: I always leave tip in cash because I always think it's just better for the waiter... As I sat down and my cousin placed the tip on the table she had the audacity to come to me and point at the line I put across the tip and ask "how come" she left the check and pen on the table and ran away. As if I made a mistake that had to be corrected. She saw our face of horror and came back shortly and removed it and walked away she then proceeded to tell all the waiters that we didn't leave a tip all the while the tip was on the table in CASH! As we walked out I let our waiter know that the tip was left on the table. He said thank you and smiled. That lady is horrible and has just lost a regular customer. I go atleast once a month. Try the Thai in Belleville on Washington ave. the people are...

Nice low-key Thai spot with average affordable prices. I visited on a Sunday afternoon with a friend and we were the third patron group. The service was satisfactory as the wait staff was responsive but not as attentive especially since the place was not busy. My favorite Thai dish is drunken noodle with shrimp and in my experience with several places in NYC, dish is cooked with scrambled eggs mixed in. I didn’t see eggs in the menu’s description nor shrimp as a protein option so I asked for those two customizations. The shrimp was a go (typical) and it wasn’t over cooked (yay)! However, our waiter brought out our dish and said the kitchen refused to add egg (goes against their recipe or something). I found the rejection kind of weird but carried along. The restaurant offered a great spice rack - a factor I look out for when picking a Thai spot. It even included a salt one, which I usually don’t need at Thai places but what the hell (if you know me you know I’m the original salt bae), I reached for the red chili powder and then some salt. Only it wasn’t salt- it was SUGAR! This is when I realized why I kept adding spices (and actual salt later) - the dish was simply too sweet for me. It came off more like it’s sister dish, pad see ew which is mild and cooked with broccoli but still sweeter than that dish typically is too. This drunken noodle was spicy with basil bell peppers etc but also sweet. I would still recommend this place to my fellow Thai food lovers in the area bc many love pad Thai which comes with a sweet flavor profile from the peanut sauce. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you favor savory+spicy in your main dish. Overall, good experience in terms of timing- we were in and out. Again the food was good quality however everything leaned on...
