Gyros the way they're supposed to be. Although the spanakopita was slightly lacking in feta( my only complaint) everything that we got in the two trips where worth every cent. Moderately priced especially for the quality. The dolmades appetizer with the lemon sauce is a beautiful starter. The orzo salad very tasty and the pastitsio comes in a perfect size. To me the gyro is the true star dinner at this place. The meat is perfectly flavored and more traditional than any other location in the Bolingbrook area. I also like the fact that like subway you can choose the toppings rather than the preset standard of white onions and subpar tzatziki( which is more like the white sauce you get on some Greek food and other places). Not the case here you can choose to put red onions (which in my opinion are the best for Mediterranean food) feta and olives are all options. And then the desserts are definitely worth a stop. The rice pudding was very good as well as the baklava, but the the star is the loukoumades! Freshly fried they are perfectly hot and crispy on the outside and just the right amount of soft inside with a ton of honey cinnamon and powdered sugar. And I hate cinnamon. These are amazing. I would suggest going and getting the loukoumades anytime you are in need of a quick and perfect dessert. They're in the Goldilock zone. The quality and freshness of them is worth the price. Although you only get 6 to 8 balls they are completely worth it. Full meals for two with appetizer and dessert without drinks for under $30 and the best gyros in town. Not to mention the staff were very personable pleasent and knowledgeable of the menu and although under masks were still all smiles. If their prices stay the same they will be a hit for a long time to come. I seriously would not change anyting about the portion size or the service or the prices. I would just add a little feta to the spanakopita. LOL Definitely definitely definitely will be back and will tell all my friends and people I know about this little gem in Bolingbrook. Quite a turnaround. After the experience a family member had when they first opened. Way to rebound. We had written this establishment off for dead . Now it's as high as you can get on the list. 8 out of 10. Would be 9 but IMO the Tzatziki is a...
Read moreWhile I don’t typically leave reviews, I hope this feedback reaches the owners and prompts some positive changes because I really like this place.
To begin with, the food here is excellent. The flavors, sauces, and meats are consistently impressive. However, there seems to be a recurring issue with inventory and preparation. Nearly every time I visit, certain toppings or even meats are unavailable. For example, arriving at 7 PM—prime dinner time for many customers—often results in certain meats not being ready because they are still being prepared. Proper planning should ensure that these essential items are available during peak hours.
Additionally, running out of basic toppings like onions or salads during dinner service is concerning. These issues appear to stem from the restaurant being understaffed. I frequently see only two employees, who are responsible for both kitchen duties and front-of-house service. This not only puts immense pressure on the staff but also leads to long wait times and inconsistent service. On multiple occasions, I’ve had to wait 5-10 minutes before anyone noticed I was there, which is understandably frustrating.
Consistency in service, portion sizes, and availability of ingredients is crucial for a positive dining experience, and this restaurant often falls short in those areas.
I would also advise caution when it comes to catering. I placed an order for 20 people and was charged accordingly, but the amount of food provided was disappointingly small. It would have been more cost-effective—and provided more food—if I had simply ordered 20 individual meals. As a result, I had to quickly order additional food from another establishment to ensure all my guests were fed.
I truly enjoy the food here, I hope improvements can be made in terms of service consistency and preparation, especially...
Read moreFirst time trying; will not be back. My husband and I ordered online for pickup. We had two pitas, one with meat, one with falafel, and a side of hummus. We picked up, went home. Tried hummus first and it's good. Opened our wraps to find we both had meat. His was supposed to falafel/vegetarian. Mine had meat. His had meat, too. So I drove all the way back with my receipts and photos of our pitas, not his actual food because it was a mess and hard to re-wrap--and because they're going to throw his out anyway, right? That's what everyhere does, because it's contaminated, right? Why would you want to keep it for your boss to see (the next day??) and potentially contaminate your store? I even tried his meat and it wasnt even good, it was gristley. So anyway, I drive back, receipts and photo proof of our order in-hand asking for them to just remake what he actually ordered and was told "oh, well we don't have falafel available right now." So wait---you just decided for us a vegetarian meal gets meat because you no longer had falafel? Without even trying to contact us to say it wasn't available and ask if we'd like something else or remove that part of the order altogether? Instead just let us pay for it, drive over to pick up--in-person and not tell us falafel wasn't available even at that point, let us drive off and...what? Religion, allergies, etc. and you just decided for us without telling us you changed our order? I thought I was in an SNL sketch. And also "we'd need to have the pita" and "our boss needs to see it"? Either we toss it or you. You gonna let the pita sit overnight for your boss to verify? Is that a joke? Awful customer service. Absolutely ridiculous. Edit: lolz also paid extra for rice on mine, didn't get it. Also falafel was extra, didn't get it. Thanks for...
