Had dinner at MAI Seaport last weekend and Iâm still thinking about itâwhat an absolutely stunning experience from start to finish.
First of all, the location is prime. Right in the heart of Seaport with gorgeous views of the water and skyline. We timed our reservation just around sunset, and the natural light pouring through the windows made the whole place glow. The interior design is modern and elegant, with a subtle, upscale vibe that feels perfect for both a night out with friends or a special date night.
The service was flawlessâwarm, attentive, and knowledgeable without ever feeling overbearing. Our server made excellent recommendations and knew the menu inside and out, including the wine and sake pairings, which really elevated the whole experience.
Now letâs talk foodâevery single dish was a hit. We started with the uni toast, which was beautifully plated and had a perfect balance of crunchy and creamy. The wagyu tartare was rich, juicy, and full of flavorâI honestly could have eaten an entire plate on my own. For mains, we had a few shared plates including the miso black cod, which was buttery and perfectly cooked, and a few hand rolls that were impressively fresh.
What stood out to me was the attention to detailâfrom the garnish placement to the timing of each course. Everything felt intentional and well thought out. Even the cocktails were spot onâcreative but balanced. I had one with yuzu and sake that was refreshing and paired really well with the meal.
The overall atmosphere is refined yet relaxed, and there's a cool energy in the space without it being too loud or too scene-y. It strikes that rare balance of being trendy without trying too hard.
All in all, MAI Seaport completely delivered on every front: food, drinks, ambiance, and service. Itâs the kind of place where everything just clicksâand where youâre already planning your next visit before the...
Read moreNestled in the heart of Seaport, this charming new restaurant radiates elegance and intimacy. The food perfectly balances French cuisine with a Japanese twist. Mai offers a variety of items on the menu that can be easily shared. My boyfriend and I got our own appetizers (because who likes sharing?). My personal favorites were the Madai Sashimi and the Chicken Tempura. My boyfriend enjoyed the Hokkaido Uni Toast and emphasized how fresh the uni was throughout the night.
I also got the Shiso Cabbage Salad. I kept this on the side as a palate cleanser.
The star of the show was the hand rolls (and Matchatini)! They were so filling that you might have to take a little break before the entrees, meaning more time for cocktails and yapping.
The quality of the A5 Wagyu is top-tier. Order it, do it, you won't regret it at all.
The service was quick and attentive but not overwhelming. We had several servers, and even the host stopped by our table to check on us, as our friends arrived a bit late to the reservation. Tim from BOH dropped off complimentary fries at our table, as he noticed we had been waiting for our friends for quite some time. A gesture that was very appreciated! The chef, Louis, was personable and steered us in the right direction on what to order based on our palate.
I highly recommend Mai. If I could give this place ten stars, I would! Be sure to make...

Stunning design, pretty lights, great music (not too loud so you can actually talk!), exciting cocktails, and AMAZINGGGG food. Whether youâre just grabbing dinner or kicking off a night in Seaport, Mai has that perfect mix of cool vibes and fireee đ„flavors.
Our server, Su, was attentive, friendly, and walked us through the menu, which is full of creative surprises. So many unexpected combinations that just worked so well together. The salmon gravlax was a standout, and the eel foie gras hand roll with blood orange hit the perfect balance of richness and freshness. I had the COD BRANDADE.. amazing!
The drinks were an EXPERIENCE and honestly the highlight for me. We tried The Road Less Traveled, Tokyo, Spitit bomb, and of course the Matchatini. Each one had its own twistâone with a bubble you pop, another in a wooden box that changed as you poured in your sake. They were as fun as they were delicious.
The whole night the energy built up in the best way, with music and an atmosphere that made us want to linger for âjust one more.â Weâll...
