We were very excited about trying Del Taco for the first time in over 20 yrs. Walking into the restaurant there were employees talking amonnst themselves at the counter. I was not acknowleged in any way. I then saw their 3 kiosks where you could place your order and realized that that was how they wanted you to order. Having not been to a Del Taco in 20+ yrs. and not being familiar with their menu, this was a difficult process. You can customize menu items but there was no option for a regular amount of an ingredient just no, light or extra. After voiding my 1st order, I realized you just skip that particular ingredient if you want no changes. I input my order a second time and missed ordering a meat for my 7 layer burrito. This was when I flagged down an employee to explain my dilemma and my first contact with an employee. The employee was very helpful and solved my issue. The staff seemed to be having issues in the kitchen, keeping up with orders. There was one order they could not find. My order was to go and delivered to me in a reasonable amount of time. While waiting, the ambiance of the restaurant was extremely lacking. It seems that they tried to go with an industrial feel. There was no music or any distractions to take away from the sterile atmosphere, making me glad that my order was to go. That, however, changed when I got home with my food. First off, after spending ten minutes at the kiosk, a fish taco, was left out of my order. Quite frustrating, when you have to order yourself and you still don't get what you ordered after spending $30. The food quality was horrendous. i have no clue as to what their beans are made with, but the texture resembles a wallpaper paste, and the beans had no flavor whatsoever. The ground beef was much the same. it had a strange consistency and very little flavor outside of sodium. From my self taught Spanish from my trips to Mexico and from eating at local Mexican restaurants, my interpretation of the word asada has always been steak. Del Taco apparently interprets asada as hamburger patty. Because that was what was in my asada, guacamole burrito. We were very underwhelmed and also quite ravenous by our visit to Del Taco. Not including the fish taco that we did not get, we probably threw away $28 of the $30 that we spent. We ordered many items to get a taste for Del Taco, but only ended up taking a bite of most of them.. On a high note, their guacamole, was fresh and excellent but very little of it wss put on the items that we...
Read moreI hope this helps someone make a better decision than we did. We ordered at 9:45 ish, not even near closing, This was some of the worst food i have ever put into my mouth. We got a good mix of everything because weve heard so many good reviews but it was all just horrendous.
I ordered 2 Chicken roll ups, 2x 3 layer nachos, 2 steak street tacos, 2 regular tacos, 2 burritos.
First off- everything was COLD, im talking dang near frozen, the taco shells, the lettuce, the cheese (huge CHUNKS of cheddar), all the way down to the meat was cold. This wasnt due to us ordering online and going for a pickup type of cold either, when we got there, we were still waiting for the food to finish being prepared, and then we ate it in the parking lot, so no, it didnt sit long. It was cold, i know floridians think that things are cold when theyre not, trust me, this was COLD. ON TOP OF IT BEING COLD, the three layer nachos, 1000% is a disrespectful shade thrown towards actual nachos. If nachos= chips +cheese, with add ons, these were nothing more than an over glorified quesadilla. The “chips” were FLOPPY, like they had never seen the inside of oil or an air fryer, they were never even told what oil was, i promise
Secondly, what is that New York City Subway station after taste? It leaves a taste in your mouth like you just licked a subway seat after someone got up, on the hottest day of the year, no AC. We really spit some of it out the windows/doors because of the taste, then because we felt bad for the unfortunate wild life that would have to endure the horrendous flavor, we picked it up. Theres no better way to say this, but it taste like how the dump smells.
Third, the employees are rude and have what seems to be a lack of common sense/human decency. The manager (i think he was, idk, he seemed to be the only one who knew what was going on) made up for it by being nice, but i feel like, even if you have to pretend to like your job, do it in front of customers and have a little bit of professionalism.
Not everything was bad, the fiance and i really did enjoy the time we spent together gagging over everything, so if one thing is for sure, it surely brings families together.
Whether its the taste or the lack of care/work ethic, we wont be back- this was whole heartedly the worst decision i couldve made for dinner. Very...
Read moreSadly, didn't get to try the food because we tried ordering on the kiosk for quite a while with it not working properly. 3 people placed their order next to us at the other kiosk before we gave up. Staff looked at us several times making eye contact but nobody mentioned "hey that kiosk doesnt work". Customer in front of us asked if we had to place our order at the kiosk or could they take it at the register and was told the kiosk. She mentioned the one kiosk isn't working and they said yeah we know, you gotta use the one....Got in line for only working other kiosk. Waited for 2 couples ahead to finish their order which took a while as it seemed a lot of customers didnt understand how to use it. Customer in front of us was having issues with her cart adding items she didn't add. Manager did not seem like he wanted to help her with his demeanor. He said I'll just take your order here (at the register).
The couple that was 2 ahead of us found out they were out of nachos and wanted a refund as that's all they wanted and would go elsewhere. The same manager was extremely less than to them, never made eye contact and no customer service at all. The staff laughed about the customer wanting a refund while half of them were leaned over the counters on their phones. Sadly we left after 30 minutes and no order yet. Taco Bell came trough for us.
Seems like a lot of conflicting info being told to customers from the staff, running out of a lot of products so underordering, all of which is from very...
