A Warm, Generous Lunch Stop That Delivers on Every Level
While passing through Bridgeport, my dad and I decided to revisit San Remo Pizza & Restaurant at Glendale and Main Street--a place he hadn't been to in about 20 years. Our lunch was a wonderful blend of nostalgia and classic Italian-American comfort.
The Overall Experience From the moment we sat down, San Remo made us feel welcome. The waitress who is the owners god daughter was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was relaxed--perfect for a midday meal and a trip down memory lane. The Meal Bread Basket & Garlic Rolls We started with a complimentary bread basket that included not just fresh bread, but also warm garlic rolls. Both were seasoned beautifully, with the garlic rolls in particular offering a savory kick that set the tone for the meal. Chicken Marsala with Ziti and Salad The Chicken Marsala was tender and flavorful, served in a rich mushroom and marsala wine sauce. The accompanying ziti was generously coated in a classic red sauce--robust and well-seasoned. The fresh salad, topped with a zesty house-made dressing, was crisp and refreshing. Chicken Parm Grinder The Chicken Parm Grinder was hearty and satisfying, with perfectly toasted bread and a generous amount of cheese and sauce. Like everything else, it was well-prepared and full of flavor.
Portion Size & Value The portions were generous across the board, making San Remo a great value for lunch. Every dish felt thoughtfully prepared...
Read moreI have ordered pizza and apps from them many times as well as pasta and salad Unfortunate that I ordered an entre and an app that was not good this time. I did call the restaurant and spoke to the manager. He was very insulted. I did ask for a refund. I had told him in the past anything I have ordered was very good. Just not this time. In most places an apology would have been given. No. I had to say I was sorry to ask for a refund as the 2 items were rather expensive. I was told now I cant order food from them anymore I had to talk a salad out of him to take at time of refund I do hope I can order a pizza again in the future because I do like their pizzas I may not be able to. For one negative on the entre Not good for business Think twice before calling with an order that was not what you wanted You may not be able to order again Going forward I would like to order pizza and salad and an app I don't live far from them and convenient I was very disappointed in the reaction I received I wish the experience had been better I do hope to order again with a positive experience as I have had If I no longer able to get food from them again. That's not a good business mindset I do hope no one else has this experience I am willing but if I am refused.. I...
Read moreI really don't like to leave bad reviews, but hopefully this would be taken as constructive criticism. Went on a Friday night during 90° temps and none of the air conditioners were on. Just a large ceiling fan. There was no one in the dining room, so either it was a quiet night or possibly people left. I guess if there was no one dining in, then why waste electricity. When we mentioned it, they did quickly turned them on for us. Had 2 orders of veal francese, which was swimming in sauce, which made all the coating on the veal come off. The veal was tender, but the sauce didn't taste lemony. It was more of a brownish color. The other meal was shrimp and linguini in an Alfredo sauce. It needed some seasoning, but nothing a little salt and pepper couldn't fix. Only issue was the shrimp was overcooked, so they were rubbery. The waitress (don't remember her name) was a sweetheart. From what I've been told, the place is under new management. Maybe they still need to work out the kinks. The place is nothing to look at, but in the past I was going for the reasonably priced food, which was...
