I had a similar issue to another post recently. Please, don’t take my word for this experience other people post and your initial dining experience will determine your judgement. While the food was ok, this restaurant experience turned out to be one of the most unpleasant ones I've had. Each staff member exhibited a rude attitude, especially the waitress who served us, the boss. If you cannot handle a simple buffet lunch rush and feel overwhelmed, then perhaps this is not the right field for you. The staffs not wanting to provide constant food coming out, but looking at if you ate more than the usual, so limit your appetite. They have false claim that the promotion was going to end Dec. But, I went empty handed as there was a sign for 12. The restaurant wants to lure you coming not knowing it is 6 dollar instead paying for 12. Also, the boss looks at you constantly the moment you steps in the door see if you are high potential paying customer, if not they won’t greet you respectfully and forceful makes you feel uncomfortable in wanting you to providing tips. Addition, They only provided us with water after we asked, long after we had been seated. Their attitude was less than welcoming whenever we requested service for things they had forgotten. Furthermore, when we inquired about any specials as advertised on Facebook, we were informed you need to go on Facebook. While regular customers has been treated with respect as the owner inform the special deals, casually talkings. For example, if a person doesn’t have a Facebook. Sad for the individual. The owner is not willing to tell the promotion. Initially, I wanted to provide referrals. Also, the owner doesn’t need referrals, as they said we already have online advertising. Therefore, it is advisable not to trust anything they post or promote. I would not suggest this place to anyone seeking a quality...
Read moreAmbiance: When you enter the restaurant, it welcomes you to a cozy feel. Music isn't loud and the tables are all very well organized and clean.
Service: The service was excellent. We got seated almost immediately as we arrived here right as it opened. We were a party of 6 and seated at the circular tables. You will order via a paper menu & write the amount you want. Very straightforward and easy. The employees were very nice and very welcoming! They were great! Once it started getting busy, they were still attentive and refilling our waters.
Food Quality: Be prepared to get stuffed because the amount of food you get is very generous. The dumplings are a good size depending on which dumplings and food orders you get. It is worth the price for a big group. All of the food dishes we ordered were very well made. The dumplings were delicious; the texture of each wrapping was soft and chewy. As you bit into the dumping, youre welcomed with wonderful sauces gushing into your mouth. If you love dumplings, this spot has amazing quality. The pork belly wasn't too bad but well made with crispy skin and the pork was just a bit over cooked. But eat it with a side of a dumpling to really formulate a wonderful meal.
Cleanliness: The tables were clean! Circular Tables fit 10 people easily. Plates and utensils all set. The table wasn't sticky and there was enough room to walk through other tables if you need to use the bathroom.
Overall Experience: Would highly recommend House of Kirin. Especially if you are looking for quality dumplings. This is an excellent spot for family dinners as the tables are accommodating for large groups as well. Bigger groups of over 8 people, would call ahead of time to make sure they have a table available. We would recommend this spot if you're not from Minnesota. A...
Read moreCame to try out their weekend dim sum. It was a bit underwhelming. Also, I don't think they use photos of their actual food, just reference photos.
Review of what we got for dim sum: Shanghai soup dumpling: very disappointing. It didn't even have soup it in. It a very small size and tasted like a regular steamed dumpling. Sugar Cane Shrimp Ball: the shrimp ball was rubbery and chewy. It tasted pretty overcooked. The flavor itself was okay, it mainly just tasted salty. They did pair it with a sauce that tasted like the coconut shrimp walnuts (the sauce with mayo and condensed milk) but i didn't think it would taste good being dipped in it. This dish also came out lukewarm, it wasn't hot or warm. So I'm wondering if it was just sitting on a food warmer until ordered. Macau Egg Custard: this was good, I enjoyed the egg custard. Pineapple bread: this was really good! Lovely crust on top and super soft and sweet. Salt and pepper shrimp: this was good too, nicely salted. Shangai noodles? I forgot which noodle it was. It was a stir fry noodle but it was not that good. Whatever powder they use was overpowering everything else. Fried pork dumpling: this was okay, it is definitely greasy so I recommend patting it down with a napkin. Seafood steam roll: this dish was a straight up rip off! It's $16 for 2 steamroll that was filled with imitation crab and rubbery tiny pieces of lobster.
Overall, I would look elsewhere for a dim...
