I have been ordering from Vinny's Pizzeria for several months now. I've started at first with ordering pizza, Stomboli and the House Salad for my wife (who is 100% Italian) who is very picky about food. When we first had the pizza she commented that the sauce taste better than her own home made sauce. She also said the house salad was better than most restaurants entrée salads and I fully agree with her. Then I order the Steak Hogie for the first time and I think I got the salad for her. When I got home with food and after I took the first bite the flavor exploded on my taste buds. "This the best Steak Hogie I have ever ate!" I comented to my wife. She asked if she could taste it. Now you have to remember she is picky about food especially meat, so when she asked I was surprised. After she ate the fist bite she couldn't stop eating it and ended up eating half my hogie, so since then we have been ordering the Steak Hogie. Fast forward to today. My son in law was at the house helping me, so we decided to order 3 foot long steak hogies one for my wife, my son in law, and my self. When my wife got home with the hogies my daughter(his wife) got to the house at the same time. Now my son in law took his first bite and the expression on his face said it all. It was the best Steak Hogie he ever ate. Then my daughter wanted to taste it and she had a similar expression and ended up eating half of his hogie. Thanks Vinny's for using top shelf fresh ingredients! You are now the only Pizzeria we go to! Many many thanks again. We had to restrain our selves this time from eating the Steak Hogies and Garlic knots until I...
Read moreButler has about 6,000,000 pizzerias, so there has to be something to standout. Obviously taste should reign supreme.
It just doesn’t for me. It’s certainly not bad. Better than some (Penn St for sure), but doesn’t match the quality and taste of Tani’s, Villa Grande, or Mac’s. I’d even rank Pizza Joe’s ahead.
A positive is that the crust was crispy. A shock considering it’s a conveyor belt not traditional pizza oven. But the sauce was sub-par, which makes the reference to grandma even odder to me. The cheese is average at best.
Here’s the other thing: around here, a “12 cut” is your standard NY size pie, which is 16”. Not this one. This rounded up was 15”. Another example of shrinkflation.
Now some might consider this splitting hairs, but you gotta do the math. One inch on a circumference is a lot to cut off (if you don’t believe me, research why chains offer “2 medium” deals; it’s bc they are still less pizza than one large).
So, in consideration of all this and that Tanis and VG are the same price plus the additional 1” of pizza (and that Tani hand picks his veggies and herbs weekly in Pgh), I don’t know why anyone wouldn’t just drive the 1/8 mile...
Read moreLocated same place as Vocelli was. The menu is basic and there are no crust options. The cheese is fair, the crust would be better if a tad bit of olive oil was used in the dough. The sauce had me torn. It's thick and chunky which is how I like it but it needed some oregano, a pinch of basil and some fresh garlic to cut the harshness of the sauce. I really could not taste any tomato flavor. Rather it tasted slightly bitter and overcooked. Online ordering was a snap. You will pay a 1.50 fee to use your CC. By the time I got there, the order was ready for pickup so their timeliness is definitely on point. Just tweak the sauce and dough for more balanced flavors. Maybe offer pan style thick crust. Also even though you are fairly new, be sure to greet your customers and thank them for coming. Be sociable. There's lots of places in Butler to get pizza, not all of them are good so here's your chance to...
