The Roost — Restaurant in Calais

We stopped in today unexpectedly for lunch. It was a pleasant surprise! We decided to try appetizers to get a feel for the menu. The homemade cornbread is worth the trip alone! We had amazing french fries covered in bacon and mozzarella cheese drizzled with homemade barbecue sauce and pickled jalapeños, homemade cornbread, chicken fingers that were huge and more than enough for a meal and itself, and garlic Parmesan wings. I will tell you now I never will get to the actual meal menu as the appetizers are off the charts! The wings are a must try as well as the cornbread. The staff is doing an amazing job and this is a rare find in a small town. The lunch crowd was diverse and the staff interacted well with everyone young and old! We stopped in on a whim as the other local spot was closed. The bartender (Jenny?) was awesome... Very friendly and Johnny on the spot with the drinks. We had the chicken tenders and loaded potato skins (with the brisket) and both were really good. I travel to Calais once a month or so and really hope this spot is successful. Looking forward to hanging out here on...
