El Camino Family Restaurant — Restaurant in California

Such an excellent lunchtime spent here at El Camino. I usually don’t come around this area, but It was graduation day for our daughter at Cal High!

This restaurant has 4.4 stars on Yelp and on Goggle so we decided to try it out. This was on a Tuesday around 2:45 pm. Lots of parking available, but I bet it will be a bit difficult to find parking during the weekend peak hours!

Very clean restaurant inside. Very welcoming staff. We met the owner today, Mary. A very kind-hearted person. She welcomed us, sat us down, and gave us some good suggestions.

Their chips and salsa were an excellent starter, the salsa was soooo good!! And so was our meal. It looked like hand made tortillas. The rice and beans were full of flavor, the carne asada was nice and tender, and mi wife’s fish and shrimp soup was delicious.

I was invited there for breakfast. It was the useuall Mexican food severed , but honestly the taste was very blah. I had chorizo and it's hard to mess this dish up, but the cook succeeded in doing so. Very tasteless kind of burnt, no flavor to it and The beans worse, rice was dry. The place it's self small, to cluttered but seemed clean. Service ok but not great. Would I go again On my own?, No but invited, maybe just to give it one more chance, why? I was a first timer so everything.deserves a second chance. Who knows I might pick a dish that surprises me which I doubt, the cook just may not have the glare to tasteful Mexican cooking which I've had a lot of and may I say the little hole in the wall places are usually the very best ( excluding this place) in my experience anyway. But as mentioned earlier there one more chance may one day come, we' ll see. Happy eatting...

I was introduced to El Camino Family Restaurant about 15 years ago. It's been love at first bite. The food is perfect for whatever time of day you visit. Breakfast is served all day and the Lunch/Dinner menu holds an entirely different slate of food options. We enjoy ordering the pozole and fideo soups. Not too many places serve fideo anymore. We also enjoy the chorizo & eggs, chile colorado and carne asada. There are multiple drink offerings including horchata, soft drinks and bottled beers. They offer catering services to take your events to the next level. Whenever we eat here, we feel just like family. This is a true family-oriented, small business.
