Oh Bento Fish & Chips — Restaurant in California

So I read great reviews and was excited to try Oh Bento. Unfortunately, I was a bit disappointed. I ordered 2 chicken boxes as take out, nothing added or special regarding either box, and they took 28 minutes to be ready. Though it wasn't particularly busy inside, maybe they had a lot of internet/call in orders. Regardless, I get my food home and am stoked to dig in. I ordered the grilled garlic chicken and the crumb fried chicken boxes. Both were generous portions and the fried chicken remained crispy all the way home. I dug right in and took a big bite of the fried chicken breast and was immediately sorry. It tasted so much like fish I checked it again to be sure it was chicken. I tried drowning it in their teriyaki sauce and it still had the fish taste. I personally don't like fish but still tried to eat it as I had spent $15 on it. After a couple bites I had to toss it. The fish taste was so strong no matter what I tried drowning it in, I couldn't cover it up. On the plus side, the grilled garlic chicken did not have this problem it was a bit dry but I used their garlic aioli and that did the job. Also the garlic parmesan fries are good as is the edaname. I am really concerned about this place. It's under new ownership and is now Kabul Fish and Chips. They did not update their menu or signage to reflect this. It only became apparent upon payment when their iPad displayed the store name.

Their refrigerator was down. AC was down. They were unable to explain why they couldn't complete our onion ring order and soft pressured us to accept a substitute instead of a refund. They said something about wireless being down, but I don't know what that had to do with onion rings. After some consideration, we decided to cancel our entire order and seek a refund.

The person manning the front went into the back and never came back out. We attempted to get their attention to get a refund and were unable to raise anybody from the kitchen despite knocking and shouting. We waited a couple minutes, then decided to handle the matter with our bank. Ownership should seriously consider closing until they're safely able...

We decided to try this place in fair Oaks and first of all it's a major hole in the wall.. Despite my better judgment, we ordered here.. We spent $49.00 It was originally advertised as 10 a plate online but I'm not petty so we paid $13 a plate. We ordered the beer battered cod, crispy cod, beer battered SHRIMP, and the crab stuffed mushrooms. To be completely transparent, it was one of the worst cod I have ever tasted it was severely overcooked. The stuffed mushrooms where imatation crab and mostly Celery. They gave us two tartar sauces after requesting extra apon ordering and offer to pay MORE. What really upsets me out of all of THIS, is that we drove a total of an hour back and fourth from Roseville to try this place and they tried to rips us off after we gave them a 100$ bill when our total was 49.00 they attempted to give us back a dollar..
