We decided to eat here for my wife's birthday because of all of the great reviews. I'm convinced that these are fake reviews or else people have no taste buds. I have a simple palette and I don't need a fancy 5 store restaurant to enjoy a meal. We should have known when we first walked in that is would be a disaster. We went on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't busy. Everything looked "dingy" and worn. I wasn't expecting it to look brand new, but it definitely looked dreary and could use an update or a deep cleaning. The cashier was friendly and welcoming so I have no complaints about the employees. But the food was horrible. We had a party of 5 and everyone complained about the same things. The beef and chicken were barely luke warm. We have never tasted ANY kind of meat ANYWHERE that was as bland as this. No seasoning at all. It was like eating plain paper. That's how bland it was. And then all of the other ingredients were cold to the point they were almost frozen. The shells were soggy as well. Say what you will about Taco Bell and I know it's not considered high quality food BUT at least Taco Bell is tasty and flavorful and is a thousand times tastier than the slop we were served. This is why I keep scratching my head why so many people rave about the food here. Really? How? The bill came to $65 for 3 kids and 2 adults which isn't bad for a restaurant BUT for the quality of the food it was...
Read moreFood here was just ok. It was good enough but forgettable. It's not like I bit into my burrito and was like oh wow this is great. This was first thing I ate all day and it was 6pm so whatever I ate should have tasted amazing. This was just ehh. Service was friendly. The girls working all looked like they were having fun and enjoy their jobs, which was nice to see. I really didn't believe the reviews when people said it took 30-40 minutes for their food. But it is true. I waited about 30-35 min for 1 burrito. I know everyone is short staffed, plus the man in front of me ordered like 1 of everything off the menu so that that made the wait longer too. I didn't really care about the wait, but if you're in a hurry maybe don't go here or order online so it's ready, or almost ready, when you get there. My burrito was the fajita burrito with shrimp. I also added rice and corn. It was pretty bland. I had some of the pineapple salsa so I added that to it, it made it a little better but again, nothing fabulous. The shrimp was boring, but there was a good amount of it. Oh the grossest part was the lettuce. If I would order from here again I'd make sure to ask for no lettuce. Nothing like a giant bite of warm wilted lettuce to ruin a meal. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but idk. Big burritos but...
Read moreI’ve seen the Flaming Amy’s stickers all over the state for years and have always wanted to try it but never lived close enough. I finally found myself at Carolina Beach and saw there was one nearby so I had to try it. Although the service was decent, it took more than 30 minutes to place our order, and another hour to even get it. I’ve never had a burrito with grilled ingredients that was cold. There were heaps of unmelted shredded cheese that went straight from a preshredded bag into the burrito. That’s basically all I could taste the entire time and couldn’t eat but maybe 1/3 of it. How does that even happen? Even at larger cantina style places, you can literally see them put cold cheese on and it still melts before you have time to open it. There wasn’t even an attempt to put hot ingredients in. My father in law ordered a shrimp burrito. Half of the shrimp were still raw and blue, while the other half were barely steamed/boiled while they claim to be grilled. If you’re so busy that you can’t fully cook the food, what’s the point? The only person who got a halfway decent meal ordered a quesadilla, I thought this was a burrito joint? Glad I filled up on chips and salsa during my hour wait. Unfortunately left very disappointed, but I feel much better about living 3.5hrs away from...
