Support your local small business and eat the best banchan and lunch to-go!!
The banchan (Korean side dishes) are super fresh. I was buying from H Mart before, but the quality and variety isn't the same as Meat Banchan. I haven't bought uncooked meat from here before, so I can't speak for that. If I do in the future, I'll be sure to update the review. I've tried all the lunch specials and a few bento boxes from here and they never leave me disappointed. The meals are really wholesome and filling. I recommend the tuna kimbap and spicy pork or calamari lunch special (pay the extra $1 for a fried egg on the rice and thank me later). Pro tip- If you're stopping by during lunch break, its best to call to order ahead for bentos and lunch specials. They have lunch specials out to grab, but it's not guaranteed to be the one to want.
The aunties are really helpful and very nice. They've always been super accommodating. Since almost everything is made in house, they can answer questions about which banchan would be best for certain dietary restrictions, like being vegan or having food allergies.
There's a small seating area, but I've never seen anyone eat there. I usually visit before noon and take my food back to the office.
There's always available parking, unlike the shopping center across the street. ;O;
The only thing to be wary of is the spice level of the tuna kimbap is sometimes too spicy. I'm a wimp when it comes to really spicy things, so it could be the perfect level for you. Spice level might be something you can request, but, personally, I've never done so.
It's a long review, but I really love this place and highly recommend it to my friends,...
Read moreI came in a couple weeks ago to check out specifically the pre packaged banchan available. They all looked amazing, but I personally chose the radish kimchi and cucumber kimchi. Both were amazingly fresh, light, and the perfect flavor I want from kimchi. I enjoyed the sourness & spice level a lot more than some brands I usually buy and would say it compares well to homemade.
As for the meats, they all looked very high quality, but I didn't have any plans to cook a lot of meat soon. I bought frozen salmon, which looked, cooked, and tasted amazing, and marinated bulgogi. I froze the bulgogi as I wouldn't use it immediately and cooked it last night - I loved the seasoning!!! It didn't need anything extra from me except for some green onion garnish.
I will inevitably come back for the tuna kimbap in particular. Oh my gosh it was so good and filling!
The store is small, but organized well and clean. There are baskets to shop with. I only spoke to one lady while there but she was very personable and quick. She packaged my items thoughtfully as well. (My items only cost about $80 if I...
Read moreMeatBanchan is a play on word for mitbanchan, which are banchans (Korean side dishes) that are prepared in advance and designed for longer storage. So everything is to go! MeatBanchan does serve more meat items than other banchan stores, and even have grocery meat items like sliced meat for hotpot, frozen seafood, etc. It's spacious and is stocked full of options.
(5/5) Beef Brisket It's the most delicious store bought brisket I've ever had. It's hard to find thinly sliced briskets that have perfect balance of fat to meat ration and this is exactly it. And there's even nice marbling to the meat!
(4/5) Fish Roe Soup It's little salty and spicy, clean tasting soup with several fish roe and vegetables. Does not smell fishy. I liked the flavor and everything in it, but it doesn't have as much depth as some other fish roe soup.
(5/5) Salted Scallop This is a type of "jeot", which is fermented raw seafood with salt and spicy seasoning. This one is made with scallop, and it tastes so good on hot rice. Not too salty for a jeot and has this nice...
