After feeling sick the whole next day after eating here, I decided maybe my whole experience was more than an off day.

To start, there were several red flags before even ordering about how this experience was going to be and I should have listened to them. On a holiday weekend, the place was empty. I walked past several tables that all had food crumbs on the benches and on the floor, and settled for one that was "better." There not only was food crumbs on the floor and bench, but also a chipped plate and 2 dirty glasses on the table. The highchair they brought out was beyond gross, caked with old food and sticky.

Against my better judgement, we stayed. The water they brought had stuff floating in it. The lentil soup was steaming like it had been taken out of the microwave, not to mention it had completely separated and looked like bile, the taste not much better. The samosas were okay, but greasy. The Tikka masala at medium heat had a strange sweetness unlike any other Tikka masala dishes I've had. The extra spicy vindaloo was not extra spicy, watery, and tasted like it had sambal Chile paste in it. For extra flavor, the chicken had a slight soap taste to it. It was by far the worst vindaloo dish I've ever had. The yogurt for my kid was questionable at best. The best dish we had was the Naan. The fact that all of the food came out so quickly makes me think that, despite the restaurant being empty, a lot of food is preprepared.

To top it all off, the smell from the restroom almost made me vomit, and I opted not to use it.

I've had a lot of Indian food and was excited to try this place, but after both myself and the person I went with got sick and had this experience, it's safe to say we'll stick to the go to spots in Dallas. The photos in these other reviews look so much better than what we received and I'm sad we didn't get the experience others seem...

I am new to Indian cuisine, so I cannot attest to the authenticity of the flavors. However, after coming here 2 times, I did enjoy the food and service... until I encountered the conditions of their bathroom (the reason for the low score).

In regards to the food, I found it tasty, and the ingredients seemed fresh. I had the Tikka Masala most recently, and I was shook by how moist the chicken was. Previous reviews mentioned that this place makes their dishes sweeter, and I can definitely say that my dish was pretty sweet. It sounds like it's not supposed to be. Though, I didn't really mind and enjoyed everything I had.

The service was pretty good as well. They frequently refilled my water, food and beverage came out fast, and the staff was courteous. No complaints there.

So, in my last visit, I had to use the restroom, and I really hate to write about it here. I don't like leaving negative reviews in general. I respect people who run their own business, and I appreciate the people over at Royal. That being said...

I was really surprised at how filthy the bathroom was, especially because the rest of the restaurant looked acceptable and clean. Like, we're not talking a couple of missed cleaning sessions or "wear and tear." It looked like it hadn't been cleaned in a REALLY long time. Time enough for black rings to form in the bowl, blankets of dust and other debris on surfaces, a stale stench of urine, etc. This really killed any desire to return, at least until they get that sorted. I'm no neat freak, but.... Truly, it's unacceptable. I'm sorry.

If the bathroom looks this bad, it makes me wonder about the kitchen, which is hidden from sight.

That is my...

Title: Extremely Disappointing Experience - Poor Service and Dishonesty

I recently visited Royal Indian Cuisine and Lounge with my sister and kids, and I must say, it was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had. From the moment we arrived, things started going downhill.

Firstly, our server forgot to place my order for the Butter Chicken with Naan, even though my sister and I both ordered the same dish. While my sister's food arrived promptly, I waited for an hour without any sign of my order. When I finally inquired about it, the server claimed that I had only ordered one Butter Chicken. It was frustrating to have to explain my order again and wait even longer.

After patiently waiting for another 30 minutes, I still didn't receive my food. When I asked the server about the delay, she simply replied that they were still making it, without offering any explanation or apology. I was beginning to lose my patience at this point.

Finally, I decided to cancel my order and requested the bill. To my surprise, the server brought over a credit card machine without even showing me the total. When I asked for a receipt, I discovered that I had been charged $47.00 for 2 naans, a Butter Chicken, and 3 mango lassis. As if that wasn't bad enough, the server had added a tip for herself of almost $7.00 without my consent. This level of dishonesty is unacceptable.

I wouldn't recommend anyone to dine at Royal Indian Cuisine and Lounge. The poor service, lack of communication, and the audacity to overcharge and add a tip without authorization make it clear that these people are running a scam. Consumers should be aware and avoid this establishment...

Today was our first time here, and we had a great experience. This place is really a hidden gem. I pass by it all the time on the way to the gym, and finally decided to try it today for the first time. We ordered the Mango Lassi, Butter Chicken, Allepey Prawns, Garlic Naan, Butter Naan, Roti, Mint Chutney, Raita, and Lasooni Gobi. Everything was really good here, and I can’t wait to come back to try new dishes. I usually always go for the usual at Indian restaurants, such as the tikka masala, butter chicken, samosas, etc. but we decided to try the Allepey Prawns since we’ve never had it before, and it ended up being one of our favorite dishes we tried tonight. Next time we plan on trying their Palak Paneer and Biriyani, and this lollipop chicken I keep seeing all over Yelp. Nayal was our server, and he was very patient and attentive with us since we took forever to order. All of the staff here was pretty friendly actually. This location is across from Walmart on Uptown Blvd. The Lasooni Gobi was also really good, their cauliflowers still had a slight crisp even when they were sauced up, and was very flavorful and fragrant. Out of all of their naans the Roti was the crispiest, the garlic was really flavorful, and the butter/original naan was a nice balance of both slightly crispy and soft, pairs well with all of the dishes. The ambiance is nice and quiet but with a good volume of music playing in the background, which accommodates the vibe lounge since they offer wine and beer. Highly recommend and will definitely be back.

My first time going. I love Indian food. I got the lamb curry, garlic naan and the chai tea. The naan I think could have been perfect if it was hot, it was like warm so it was a little oily and soaked but it had a good flavor. I also went 1 hour before closing so I could understand why. The entree came with rice as a side automatically. I got the naan separately. This is the only option if you want naan. Chai was great, the lamb curry lacked salt, it wasn’t fresh hot. I don’t like salty food but I added salt when I got home and it was better. That’s really a dish that I love so I was a little disappointed as my meal was about 25$. But I wasn’t so bad because I live close and it was still better than any regular fast food place. Still felt more hearty than lots other places. I'm not sure if I would come back for anything other than the naan or the tea right now, unless I hear that that particular dish has added more taste. That’s really the only dish I usually get and have actually tasted at this place. The place was very tidy and it was welcoming just enough. Also the price I feel like was fair but I am just a very frugal and low maintenance person so that’s the only reason I was a little disappointed. I usually cook so I don’t like to spend money on take out if I didn’t get time to have a home cooked base food. Go and try them out they may have many other great dishes for you, as all pallets are different. I will keep listening to other peoples experience's in case I need or want to come back!

First the food flavor was excellent, and authentic. Spice level was good. The food was not hot however. I mean heat hot, not spice hot,or was luke warm at best which was concerning with a chicken dish. Lastly the bill and check procedure is unusual. The bill doesn't come to the table for you to review, so you walk up to the pay desk to pay and they give you a verbal amount. You go to pay it and you get the usual "add a tip" on the POS screen and then after that they ask you if you want a receipt. I did and found that an 18% gratuity was already included in the bill so I actually paid a 20% Tip on top of that so a$55 meal was $82 and change out the door. Maybe I missed it but.. Had they shown in the menu or provided the bill before paying I would ld not have paid $23 in tips and gratuity on a $55 meal. ... After word... At the bottom of the receipt there is a note on this... But I had to ask for the receipt or I would have got one. It clearly states for parties of 6 or more... Since it was just my wife and I I'm beginning to think the cashier did this as a way of boosting the check amount. Feeling conned. But I should have asked for a copy of the bill before paying. My own fault I guess..
