Quinton's Bar & Deli — Restaurant in Cedar Rapids

Having never been there before I was really impressed. I've been a bartender for over 35 years mostly in Cedar Rapids and let me tell you this place was impressive. Plenty of beer on tap. Many local brews. Nice variety of beers too. Sours, pale ales, pilsner,stout, etc. Nice selection of liquors too. All reasonably priced too and nice portions as well. Their food was delicious too. I was first there a few days ago when a friend wanted to meet me somewhere. He recommended this place. I liked it so much that I invited a friend out for drinks just the other day. Really nice location too. Just across the street from the amphitheater downtown. Plenty of street side parking. Some in the back too. Well lit parking. They also offer a raised balcony for outdoor sitting during warmer days. Nice clean bathrooms. Nicely decorated. Furnished areas are comfortable. They take digital as well as hard currency for payments. In my opinion this place is best. I will continue to stop here often. I didn't see a ramp to aid wheelchair accessible patrons, I only saw steps out front. Be aware of this. There are other locations for this bar. One is on the SW side. I had heard good things about Quinton's, but my experience did not live up to the word of mouth. I went there for lunch with a few co-workers. Two of us ordered sandwiches, two ordered salads. It took nearly 45 minutes to receive our food. At about just under the 40-minute mark, I had to stop our server to ask our server about the status of our food (the one time she checked on us and I got one refill of my soda). My sandwich (grilled cheese with bacon and tomato) was barely warm and had clearly been sitting for a while before it was served. Fries were cold. The server checked on us exactly once the entire time we were there (over an hour). I could have used another refill, but didn't want to wait any longer. I don't know if this instance was a front-of-the-house or a back-of-the-house problem or both, but the entire experience was not good. What makes this worse is that I only saw one other table seated when we sat down. When we left at 1:15pm, there were no other patrons except one person at the bar. There is no reason that I could see for the service and food to be so slow. Maybe it the speed is better at night, but I would avoid if you are looking for a reasonably timed weekday lunch. My bestie and I went to quinton's this past weekend after The Beach Boys concert (July 12th,2024) and we didn't eat prior to the show, so we were hungry! We arrived at 10:30pm, the kitchen was closed, but they were still serving appetizers. We had an amazing server, excellent service, our waitress was really attentive to us (kept checking on us) and we ordered the fried pickles, onion rings, and I had the chicken strips. The food was excellent! The food wasn't greasy or dry. It came out fresh and it was sooo good! The chicken strips was really moist and juicy.
