I can’t leave a rating for the food because the kitchen was unable to make us the Chicago pizza on their menu that we had ordered. If you put a picture of a Giordano’s style pizza on your menu, and come out with a pan pizza, you should expect that your customers will be disappointed that you brought them what’s essentially a completely different meal. Who put together the menu, and why didn’t they consult the kitchen before ordering what I can only presume are stock photos of different food for the menu (and why didn’t they actually take pictures of their own cooking)?
Waitstaff was very busy, so I won’t fault them for being slow, but the waitress was pretty bad. She gave us attitude when we said we were ready to order food as well when she came for our drink order, saying “we were trying to order before she was ready.” OK, I guess. She did take our order, but this was the first sign that we might have a situation to manage just to get what we asked for. She came back 15 minutes later and told me she forgot what we ordered, and then after we told her again, she came back a few minutes later with the wrong drinks.
Management was running the food out since they were so busy, so when I showed the manager that what I ordered and what was brought out were different things, he said he’d check with the kitchen, but 20 minutes later when our waitress showed back up to ask us how our pizza was (which was sitting untouched). We explained that what they brought us was not what was on the menu, and we asked if they could take it (still uneaten) off the bill. She said that would be fine, and I said I’d pay for the beverages we ordered.
We walked up front to settle and pay because we had already waited long enough, and after a minute or two, the manager who had forgotten about us came out of the kitchen and assisted with removing the pizza after we said we already spoke with the waitress about it. He was apologetic and understanding much to his credit, though I’m sure his hair was on fire from the surge of business that they weren’t equipped to handle.
Leonardo’s food quality was atrocious when they were in their old location, but I wanted to give them another shot. I got a takeout slice once from the new location which was pretty decent, so we wanted to give them a shot in hopes that they had made positive changes overall. Short story: they didn’t.
I get the distinct impression that the owners are out of their depth and have been relying on consultants to teach them how to run a restaurant/bar at this scale. Unfortunately, between staffing issues, photos of the wrong food on the menu, and what was a subpar experience even apart from all of this, I can’t see myself going back any time soon. MAAYYYYBE for a drink sometime.
They have a liquor license and do takeout, so all is not lost for them, but with so many better restaurants in the area, I’d recommend looking elsewhere if you want a meal that you don’t have to manage at every...
Read moreAte at the new location, old Pop Inn, for first time and was very disappointed. I realize that the first several weeks of a new business are never that great, but this is the same business in a new location. It took my family of six an hour to get our meal in a half full restaurant. Everyone was in the same boat. When the food finally arrived it was not per the menu description. My daughter ordered a Greek salad which arrived with no dressing and green olives instead of pitted Kalamata olives. She got her Italian dressing 15 minutes later. They had no Greek dressing . I ordered the Barrichello Sub with Chicken, portobello mushrooms, provolone cheese, garlic, and roasted pepper. I received the sandwich with button mushrooms. The poor waitress was obviously young, new, and inexperienced because she didn't know the difference between green, black and kalamata olives, nor portobello or button mushrooms. She told me the kitchen was "running out of food" ...???..... I returned my sandwich and ate the other half of my wife's balsamic chicken sandwich, which was not bad. My son ordered a cheese steak with extra cheese, which came without extra cheese..... It's a shame because I have enjoyed Leonardo's food when ordered for delivery from the old location but this was a major disappointment. None of the waitresses seemed to know what was really going on. Hopefully just growing pains which improves with time but something that definitely needs to be fixed before I go back. The mix of bar crowd, takeout and restaurant is a dynamic that Leonardos will need...
Read moreTheir pizza is okay, not terrible, but nowhere near good or great. Went there a few times and had pizza several times. The one chicken wrap I had was pretty good (which is why I gave 3 stars for the food) . Was there once with a friend and he ordered the Chicago deep dish, the picture in the menu had what is traditionally a Chicago deep dish but what came to the table was completely different, it was just a thick crust pizza. Also learned on the first visit that they pass the credit card fee onto the customer, you get the receipt, and it shows two totals (a cash total and a non-cash total). In all the years that I've been using my debit or credit cards for purchases, this is the first and only place that I've encountered this. There are much better pizza places in the area that I'd rather go to. I will say that I hadn't had them when they were in the old location, but from some of the reviews I've read, it seems that they've gone downhill...
