We came here around 5:30 on Saturday night and didn't have a reservation but we were able to get seated right away on the patio. We live nearby and have been wanting to check this place out for a very long time! They had bug spray sitting out for us to use which was great there's a lot of no see ums right now! We didn't get a burger menu and didn't know we had to ask for one until we had already ordered. It was our first time coming here. There was only one server for the patio and she was quite busy! We did get a cocktail and a glass of wine which was good. You do have to order all of your food at once. We started off with the poutine and it was super tasty! I honestly wish we had stopped there because the rest of our meal wasn't so good. My bf ordered the duck which was poorly cooked, had a super strong pungent sour and vinegar flavor and was too tough to eat. The server did come by once right after we got our food and we haven't had a chance to really eat so we didn't have any feedback at that time. We took two bites of the duck and moved on. We also had the sweet potatoes which had an over the top inedible sweet and salty flavor. They also had very vinegar tasting pecans and an off tasting sauce in the dish. Again, took a bite and gave up. I also ordered the pan seared fish which was also covered in vinegar and very hard to eat. We told the server that our food wasn't edible and only took a few small bites total. She said she wished she knew earlier. Another worker came by to offer us dessert but it had been 2 hours and we were tired. I have worked on the service industry for many years and hate to complain but this was so sad. I've never been so dissatisfied and disappointed in a restaurant in my life. From the bad food to the bad service I won't be back. We spent with tip over $140 to only eat poutine and...
Read moreWe had dinner there last evening to celebrate my daughter’s birthday and it was so disappointing. I’m sure we will never be back. I will say that the service was friendly, but incredibly slow it took us three hours to get through dinner. They boast about their burger so we ordered burgers plus other items, but three people at our table were ordering burgers after waiting 45 minutes the way to return to tell us there were no more burgers And for the record, it wasn’t made clear we sort of went there for the burgers, but they said we could only get burgers if we sat upstairs and then they told us that they were out of burgers however, even after that we saw six burgers go upstairs and I’m like can’t you borrow burgers from your burger bar upstairs. Needless to say, we should’ve had dinner before they even told us they couldn’t service dinner so we had to make different plans. There weren’t a lot of optional choices within that same type of food. I got the duck it was not very good. Again, very little attention you would think that the manager would’ve come over to us. The other two people with Berger orders had to get a chicken kale salad, which wasn’t the best either however that took another 3540 minutes to get out to us so our 715 reservations got us out the door at 10 PM again, I don’t understand the whole Berger thing if you’re a burger bar and you could serve burgers upstairs where we could see it how do you run out of the one signature Berger on your downstairs menu and just to be clear it wasn’t clear on their website that you couldn’t get the burger bar anywhere in the restaurant so that also was disappointing drinks were also just ok and the wine choices limited For $600 I have to say there is too much competition in Charleston for this...
Read moreThere’s so much I can say about this restaurant and looking to find the best place to start!
I’ve been to Herd Provisions on three occasions and from the first visit and on, Herd Provisions has NEVER ceased to impress & come through.
Last night, had the absolute best restaurant experience EVER! Hands down and hats off. Ethan and Matty(I hope that how you spell it) did a phenomenal job with customer service and serving me 🥲.
The starter I ordered was the Beef Tartare; it was absolutely heaven sent. The flavors, herbs, spices etc, were an excellent combination. Matty also helped me with selecting the right drink to go with my meal. I let her be the deciding factor on that and she was spot on. By the way the dehydrated lemon slice was a nice touch on her part. The whole drink was delicious and aesthetically pleasing.
I order the Steak 🥩 (16oz Tallow Dry Aged Boneless NY Strip) and it was an experience and a journey eating it. Cooked to perfection, beautifully seared, flavorful in EVERY BITE!
There’s more I could say…nothing but good things!!! ETHAN you’re doing a great work at Herd Provisions. Your team and chefs are top notch. I always feel welcomed and at home when I visit! I will be back again and again and again and again and...
