Read moreDecided to try this restaurant out for my birthday. It is located right beside Southpark mall. They have a parking deck located right beside the restaurant where you can park at no cost. I had a table reserved already, so when I arrived, we were seated. The inside looked very modern and elegant. They had a bar and outside patio seating. We sat at a Hightop table since our party consisted of 10 people. Now I know it was a Friday night, but our waitress always seemed to get lost, and we had to track her down. I feel like anytime we would ask a question about the menu or drinks we were always met with a "umm, idk or no, we can't, no, no" instead of actually just asking someone else before giving us a definite "no". I ordered 2 paella (steak and mixed) ahead of time since it does take about 30min for them to be ready. Now this is a more Tapas place which is great because you can order a lot of things and share amongst others BUT unfortunately this restaurant gives very little amount of food so in reality its more sharable for only 2 or 3 people. Definitely not enough to go around for our big party of 10. Also, the Paella, we were told they only feed about 2-4, which was crazy to me considering the price. The Paella was good but nothing spectacular. I was definitely hoping for the best tasting, but unfortunately, it just did not happen. I believe the only thing I truly enjoyed was the Papas Bravas, which were potatoes mixed with a spicy aroli sauce. I was very disappointed as it was for my birthday but now I know and I don't think I will be back, unfortunately. I feel like this will be a great place to go for up to 4 people but definetly not for a larger group as you will have to order MULTIPLE things and probably of the same items just to be able to feed everyone. I feel like if they had bigger tapas serving, it would be much better. Overall, I just didn't get the best vibe of this place, I didn't feel welcomed by any of the staff members, and the food was just very mediocre. At the end before we left, I was giving a signed card by the restaurant which was thoughtful and I appreciated but then they gave me a candle to blow out but it was put in a rasberry and then what looked like nut clusters scattered on the plate? I don't know but I just couldn't help to think that they were trying to do something since it was my birthday and they might of forgot and last minute tried something, but I mean come on, at least a churro or some other dessert you offer on your menu could've done...
Read moreLocated in a busy shopping area, there are limited parking spots outside of the venue. You can park and it's less than a two minute walk to the door. Reservations are accepted but we had no issue as walk ins. There is booth and table seating. Good for groups, date night or just friends sharing small bites.
Clean and moderately lit, the art was appealing and the customer service was supportive. Thanks Cartier for helping to make our first time a great time. There is a varied list of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. Anyone dining here that has never had tapas should know that it is not huge portions but enough to pass among those at your table and to get a heavy sampling.
The standout item was the ceviche with the plantain chips. It was fresh and saucy (like me) and our server made sure to bring additional plantain chips. My least favorite were the meatballs. Not terrible, but at the same time not life changing. My drink of choice was the bougie Palmer. It was refreshing and was mixed perfectly so that it had the right level of taste, sweet and booze.
The bathrooms were sizable but were in need of a little love during my visit. The dining area was well maintained and the temperature was appropriate so that I wasn't freezing.
The calamari was good but there were portions of it that had too much seasoning on top. I'm guessing after it's friend they hit it with seasoning but whomever was back there seasoning had a heavy hand. For the clams with pork belly, it was good but again not a standout dish in my opinion. Octopus is served here as a salad (see photo provided) and alone. The octopus salad was fresh and the accompanying vegetables and marinade married the items well.
To round out the dining experience were the churros. Chocolate and caramel sauce come with a generous portion. You can enjoy them plain or by dipping. There is sugar sprinkled on top so be mindful if you're monitoring your intake.
Good vibes among my dining companions and we collectively agreed that we had a good time. Worthy of a return visit to get a taste of...
