Let me just start by saying if I just had to review the desserts alone it would be 5 stars. I am rating the business as a whole which is why I give 3 stars. I first visited The Sweet Place a few years ago as me and my mom were waiting on our food from a restaurant up the block. I tried the sweet potato pie and my mom had a funnel cake. Both were amazing!!!! The sweet potato pie is something you can tell came down the line from a great baker. The funnel cake was warm and moist and just delicious. I visited a few more times just to get more sweet potato pie. Fast forward to this year. I have sporadically visited through the years but just started going back. I visited last Wednesday around 630. Not too many items to choose from as they aren't open and don't bake on Mondays and Tuesdays. So I just had cookies and brownies. I came back Friday and walked to the door and 505pm and it was locked. A worker came very quickly to come and open the door. Nothing was set up, nothing was really in the display case but cookies. I got cookies and 2 slices of cake. Espresso cookies are great and so are the chocolate chip cookies. I had the vanilla slice and birthday cake slice, both very moist and amazing. I have no complaints whatsoever about the desserts. My biggest complaint is the hours. Opening at 5pm is so late. You are by major hospitals in the area. There are so many visitors and workers who would love some nice desserts during the work day or to grab before they get off. It gets so busy in the Clifton area after 5 so dealing with traffic and the bad parking it can be hard to get here. I don't see a lot of advertising on social media or anywhere. I'm not sure if The Sweet Place is trying to cater more to the younger, late night college crowd or not, but you are losing out on a lot of money by not opening earlier in my opinion. I think even if you tried a day or 2 just to open earlier, you could see a big difference. I also think that if you are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays, you could use those days as prep and baking days. Just because you open so late and customers as myself who live nowhere near close come to visit, we would love to be able to choose from all the desserts that are available during the particular season. Again no complaints about the desserts, they are top notch. I just wish you opened earlier and used Mondays and Tuesdays as days to replenish...
Read moreSo I just placed an order tonight. They sent me the wrong cake and then told me to call Uber (like it's their fault). Second, the cake looks like someone ate some of it. I don't know about you but I don't eat after ppl. Third, I called the store and the manager (Brandy) is no help.... pretty much she got tired of talking to me and hung up on me (who hangs up on a customer when you are the one that made the mistake)....So I called back and Barry answered said "we are so busy, but I'm taking the time to talk to you." The place has the worst customer service of all time I swear... Please, enjoy that $10 dollars because this place will never get another...

The second time was told they were fresh, I kid you not the cookies tasted like they had been sitting for DAYS! Another thing is the moment I walk in it’s not the most pleasant experience.
