Proof BBQ — Restaurant in Cleveland

Was in the mood for a good cocktail drink and found Proof on Google. Took a chance based off their reviews and I’m highly impressed.

Even during COVID, their precautions made me feel safe with the dividers and bartender/staff wearing a mask. There’s a patio available for outdoor seating if you don’t want to sit inside.

I ordered a Moscow Mule w/ Hendrick’s Gin and the Build A Platter option w/ 1/2 lb of brisket, and a side of mac and cheese, and baked beans. The brisket was okay, a bit salty, not bad. Wasn’t really a fan of the mac or baked beans. The mac and cheese was definitely too salty for me. The baked beans weren’t cooked enough either, they were still gritty in texture. The sauces were cool, I tried 3 of them, can’t remember their names but all worth it (& they’re all homemade!)

If you’re looking for something on the lax, and chill side — Proof is your place! The only reason I gave them 5 stars was because of the service! Bartender was super attentive and had great casual convo, didn’t force it. The service extended after hours because they allowed my friend and I to use the restroom prior to long commute home. Music was a vibe. Would definitely come back again...

5's all around!! The new location of the former Tremont spot didn't disappoint on any level! Right down to the bathroom, I would have said room's, but I didn't see the ladies room. They're always nicer than the men's anyway! The old Nick's Diner on Lorain is the new home of "Proof Cleveland" Chef Brandon is still in charge of the food, and all I can say is "thank goodness"! I had pulled pork with a pepper honey sauce and the hours that it cooks came out in every tender, juicy bite!!! My side was a good sized bowl of mac-n-cheese, it wasn't loaded with anything but cheesy goodness! I also had a house margarita with smoked salt on the rim. I've never had smoked salt... but I will again! It was a bit surprising at first, but there was none left by the time I finished it!!! All in all, I thoroughly enjoyed my visit. Manager, Jay, came to every table to check-in and along with Taylor, my bartender the service was exceptional!!! With, 20% gratuity, I paid $35. I highly recommend you...

Came by for dinner while on s business trip and being from Texas I needed to see what Ohio bbq was like. Proof has a really cool kinda modern speakeasy vibe. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Got a blackberry bourbon Mule and it was superb! I will say though I was a tiny hesitant to drink it because the bartender picked through five containers of moldy blackberries to have enough for the drink. For my meal I got the brisket with thier spicy sauce and sides of mac n cheese and slaw. The brisket I got was sadly mostly fatty pieces and lacked good bbq flavor. The sauce had no spice and was the most bland bbq sauce I've ever had. Now the sides were absolutely bomb and in my opinion saved the meal. The mac n cheese was rich, creamy, cheesy goodness.
