My boyfriend, and some friends of ours went here for dinner on 4/11. There was confusion from the start of who our waitress was. Two different people were asking for our drink orders and food orders. We ended up getting water from one of them. No ice, just water in a glass. My friend ordered one of the drinks off of their spring drink menu. When it was brought out the lady (bar tender? Owner?) Said "it's been a while since I made that one" and proceeded to spill some on the table because it was so full. Her drink was not good. I ordered my drink, and although drinkable, it was bland. Our other friends drink was also bland and not that great. Moving on to food. We ordered only meals, no appetizers. More than an hour after we ordered the waitress came back with questions about our orders. Meaning they hadn't started cooking our food yet. On one of the meals, my friend substituted the rice for fingerling potatoes. She received mashed potatoes. On another meal, from their specials menu, I was told they didn't have the risotto that the meal came with. My options were white or brown rice. I chose white, which has no sauce or anything added. Just white rice with my scallops. Both asparagus on my meal and my friends were barely cooked. I enjoy a little crunch to my veggies, but they were barely warm. My boyfriends fried chicken was still pink in the middle. Our other friends burgers he said tasted like they were just frozen Bubba burgers. Overall, the whole thing took us about 2 hours and we left right after we finished eating. About 30 min for drinks to arrive and another 40 before they asked about the food issues. The mac and cheese was delicious, if not a little salty and my scallops were good. We probably won't be back for a WHILE if at all. I was very disappointed as I was excited for a new place to open in...
Read moreWalking in I was greeted by a friendly bartender who, when prompted with “red, dry,” recommended a Malbec, which turned out to be an enjoyable glass. We were there for a party of about 18 people, and we were allotted a large space with high top tables for mingling and a long table for our meal. We were promptly brought appetizers which were interesting, diverse, and tasty. We sat, made our selections, and ordered. The food came out over a period of about 20 minutes, which wasn’t ideal, but I understand they were down a chef due to illness that night. I got the shrimp po boy which was served on ciabatta with a side of corn tortilla chips. The chips were verging on too salted, and they would have made more sense if they had come with something to dip them in. The po boy was good, but between the ciabatta and the salty chips, the dish was on the dry side. They were out of the crème brûlée which was disappointing, but I got the chocolate lava cake which came with two scoops of ice cream. Yum! Dessert was fantastic. Overall it was a great experience, and I’d go again. It wasn’t perfect, but the staff was really friendly which set a good vibe. The architecture is cool, too. It’s the old Coatesville Cultural Society building, and you can tell they are being careful to maintain the ambiance while fixing it up and making it...
Read moreMy wife and I sat down for dinner at the Iron Eagle approximately one year ago; we have not returned.
The service was wonderful, which included a visit to our table by one of the owners.
From there , things went from South, and beyond.
The culinary experience was not only disappointing ( I am praying for a restaurant to finally anchor the legitimacy of the viability of Coatesville ) , it was clear the chef was over their head- the elementals were clearly out of the can , and the dishes lifeless, uninspired.
This review pains me , because I was eager to encourage a vibrant and promising establishment; but it is clear that the chef is either forced to, or is, willing to take short cuts over quality and thought, and passion.
The lighting is glaring and unnatural; it is akin to the laundromat down the street ( there, the otherworldly lighting gives over an honest impression of your detergent’s cleaning power )
I beg of the owners and the chef a reassessment of why they opened the Iron Eagle; look into their culinary collective memories of Ratatouille intensity, and bring from their hearts fresh, local ,...
