The Pop Shop Collingswood

I will start off saying I have heard nothing but good things about coming to the Pop Shop. I traveled all the way from Baltimore,Maryland to NJ along with my kids to visit my Mom and have an awesome outing. The start of our day was going to the “The Pop Shop”. My mom was telling me about the Collingswood area and how diverse things are and how peaceful it is…. “I loved that” Anywho the food was very good and my kids enjoyed their food as well! Unfortunately my biggest takeaway will ALWAYS be customer service. Upon getting our food I noticed a woman from the kitchen that didn’t seem like she wanted to have any verbal interaction with us at the table…. It was almost like she was mumbling and anyways (trying not to pay it any mind) I smiled and said thank you after she placed the plate down (it was a bit aggressive and I did NOT) like that. When I say thank you it is common courtesy to say “You’re Welcome or something “ SHE DID NEITHER of those things. So at this point I’m like maybe she didn’t hear me …. She then proceeds to place my brother plate down whom was sitting next to me (he was in the bathroom) so i said “Thank You “ for him a little louder so that she did hear me and NOTHING ….. at this point I felt very uncomfortable….as an African American woman she treated the situation as if she wanted no interaction at all …. These actions are disheartening…. PLEASE UNDERSTAND THESE ACTIONS SHOW… (even when you think they don’t) … As we were sitting there finishing up at some point I had seen a waitress blow up 4 balloons for children willingly…. When my kids and I walked out “I asked if they could have one.” At the end of the day I am not sure what the issue was but if customer service is key and leaving what ever attitudes at the door and or separate personal emotions. I am truly sick of hatred and for hard working individuals as myself, mother, and brother WHO DO TIP (I’m no talking about pocket change either). How about having a team meeting on DIVERSITY/COMPLIANCE as to I have been in customer service for over 15 yrs and it was unacceptable. I don’t teach my kids color because we all should be treated the same. Nevertheless, thank you to the wonderful young man whom waited on us (with the ponytail) and the young lady whom was kind enough to give my babies a balloon. Had that all not happened there would’ve been a top notch experience but the moment she gave me “that energy “ at that point I wanted to eat and be on my way and I continued to stay positive. I honestly can’t say if I will be coming back or not it was just uncomfortable at that point. Make people feel welcome in your establishment. Again I traveled just to come there and that’s what I unfortunately had to deal with. Hope this is a learning tool for future customers that may be of different ethnicities and or background.
