What's the one item that you always look for at gluten-free bakeries? For me, I try to get a cinnamon roll as my main way of comparing gluten-free bakeries.
As a celiac, every time I go to a different US state, I try to go to at least 1 gluten-free bakery. While visiting Colorado over the weekend, I stopped in at Allergy Free Baking Company, a walk-in bakery in Morrison, Colorado that specializes is gluten-free, dairy-free, treenut-free and peanut-free baked goods.
I purchased a cinnamon roll for $6 and an oatmeal cream pie / whoopie pie for $5.50. Sales tax is an additional 8.25%
Whoopie Pie
The whoopie pie was gigantic and took me 2 days to finish eating. For $5.25, it was larger and better priced than other gluten-free bakeries I've been to.
Cookie ingredients: coconut oil, palm oil shortening, brown sugar, sugar, eggs, gluten-free oats, brown rice flour, tapioca starch, potato starch, applesauce, cinnamon, baking soda, salt, xanthan gum, vanilla.
Filling: powdered sugar (contains cornstarch,) palm oil shortening, coconut milk, salt, vanilla bean paste.
Cinnamon Roll
The cinnamon roll was a great price at $6. The icing comes on the side so you can put as much or as little as you want on. Do not eat this cold. You'll miss out on the fluffy, yeasted texture. It was perfect at 1 minute in the microwave.
Ingredients: sorghum flour, tapioca flour, brown rice flour, sweet rice flour, white rice flour, potato starch, tapioca starch, modified tapioca starch, millet flour, sugar, canola oil, flax, cinnamon, apple cider vinegar, yeast, cream of tartar, baking soda, arrowroot, xanthan gum, salt, ginger, sunflower lecithin.

This is a place where you can only order your items to go. There is no seating at this location, so be aware that this is not a bakery / coffee spot and you'll need to heat your items at...
Read moreJan 2019: I couldn’t figure out how to leave an additional review so I’m adding to the previous one. I have multiple family members with celiac disease, including DH for some, which requires a lifelong gluten-free diet. Several of those also require dairy-free. For the holidays I purchased an abundance of cinnamon rolls, everything bagels, scones, brownies, and crumble top muffins. The goodies were frozen for close to a month and transported to family members who took them back to Nebraska, Kansas, North Carolina, and Texas. My brother in Texas declared the brownies and bagels to be the very best he’s ever had, and trust me he’s tried a lot! Just wait until he tries the cinnamon rolls. My sister in North Carolina can’t get over how amazing the everything bagels are and finally has a dairy free option as well. My Kansas family loves the cinnamon rolls and scones and is also delighted to have something that is equally gluten-free, dairy free, and delicious. My Nebraska sibling took cinnamon rolls for herself (I converted her from a brand she previously loved ;) and extras for a few friends who have medical conditions and require gluten-free. We can’t tell you how much your goodies are appreciated and thoroughly enjoyed! Thanks for doing the hard work and making something that tastes incredible so the rest of us can enjoy a treat!! 💗🤗
Sept 2018: 100% gluten free, but still 100% delicious! Many items free from other allergens as well - see their website. Everything bagels and pumpkin crunch muffins were so yummy! Saturday mornings you can get gooey...
Read moreThis bakery is amazing. Bringing special snacks for school is always difficult because there really isn't anything out there that is free of all the common kid allergies and diet preferences - nuts, nut oil, microscopic nut dust, gluten, wheat, dairy, eggs... There are a lot of brands out there that are trying to create products to meet those needs but they are expensive and not really that great and children without needs or preferences absolutely dont like them. I bought cupcakes from Allergy Free Baking Company for my daughters birthday for 50 teenage girls with all kinds of needs and preferences but mostly without needs and preferences. There were about 8 left over and all the girls were vying for who was going to get seconds. It was so nice to bring something sweet and pretty and really tasty that all of these girls (and teenage girls have a lot of opinions lol) really enjoyed and my daughter felt great just being able to provide the exact same thing to all of her friends and not have to single out any of them for being different. Our family doesn't have allergies but we do have a grain free preference and we love the sandwich bread, cinnamon rolls (omg), pumpkin chocolate chip loaf, chocolate chip cookies, mollases cookies, scones,...
